Missouri. They lived in <strong>Hanover</strong> for a time when he worked at the Savanna Army<br />
Depot. They moved to Freeport where Gerald worked at Kelly-Springfield. Gerald died<br />
September 2, 1980 and is buried in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Freeport.<br />
Drake, Mabel (Krum) was born March 11, 1921 in Forreston, Illinois and was the<br />
daughter <strong>of</strong> Henry and Nancy (Buskhol) Krum. She married Gerald F. Drake on<br />
October 11, 1941 in Missouri. They lived in <strong>Hanover</strong> for a few years before they moved<br />
to Freeport. Mabel worked at Spurgeon’s and W. T. <strong>Grant</strong> Department Stores in<br />
Freeport. Mabel died December 16, 2008 in Freeport and is buried in Chapel Hill<br />
Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Freeport.<br />
Droegmiller, Dorothy M. (Breed) was born March 22, 1911 in Illinois and was the<br />
daughter <strong>of</strong> James Scott and Hattie E. (Block) Breed. She graduated from Freeport High<br />
School in 1929 and later attended Illinois College in Jacksonville. Dorothy had been a<br />
schoolteacher, first teaching one year in Pearl City, five years in Elizabeth and 15 years<br />
in <strong>Hanover</strong>. She later was a bookkeeper for 16 years at the Schwirtz Chevrolet<br />
dealership in Elizabeth. She married Glenn H. Droegmiller on August 23, 1939 in<br />
Guilford Township. Glen died on January 10, 1988 and Dorothy died March 23, 2006.<br />
They are both buried in St. John’s Cemetery near Scales Mound.<br />
Duffy, Bernadine Marie (Honerbaum) was born July 9, 1917 in Cascade, Iowa and<br />
was the daughter <strong>of</strong> Bernard “Barney” Henry and Josephine Caroline (Leytem)<br />
Honerbaum. She married Bernard “Barney” H. Duffy in Cascade and four children<br />
were born to this union: James “Jim” Bernard Duffy, Merlin Patrick “Pat” Duffy,<br />
Josephine Anne “Joanna” (Duffy) Thulen, and Robert “Butch” Lawrence Duffy. They<br />
moved to <strong>Hanover</strong> in the mid-1940s. Her husband died in 1960 and she later moved to<br />
Savanna. Bernadine worked at the Savanna Army Depot from 1944 until 1955, Burgess<br />
Battery in Freeport from 1955 until 1963 and Eaton Corporation in Savanna from 1963<br />
until 1987 and later at the Upper Deck in Savanna. Bernadine died December 14, 2004<br />
and is buried in St. John Catholic Cemetery, Savanna.<br />
Duffy, James “Jim” Bernard was born October 27, 1937 in Cascade, Iowa and was the<br />
son <strong>of</strong> Bernard “Barney” H. and Bernadine Marie (Honerbaum) Duffy. The family<br />
moved to <strong>Hanover</strong> in the mid-1940s. Jim graduated from <strong>Hanover</strong> High School in 1955<br />
and served in the military. He married Harlene (Secoy) Garcia on December 2, 1966 in<br />
Princeton and two children were born to this union: Michael Duffy and Kathleen<br />
(Duffy) Groves. Jim worked as a construction laborer until 1967, when he joined the<br />
Plasterers’ and Cement Union and became the business agent <strong>of</strong> Local 587 until he<br />
retired in 1996. Jim died September 18, 2006 and is buried in St. John Catholic<br />
Cemetery, Savanna.<br />
Duffy, John Robert was born April 4, 1922 in Dubuque, Iowa and was the son <strong>of</strong><br />
William A. and Lena (Reisch) Duffy. He attended Loras Academy in Dubuque. John<br />
was a World War <strong>II</strong> U.S. Army Veteran and was a founding member <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Hanover</strong><br />
VFW. John married Marcella Dorothy Miller on February 26, 1944 in <strong>Hanover</strong> and two<br />
daughters were born to this union: Sharon Lynn Duffy who died in infancy in 1944 and<br />
Marcia Jean (Duffy) Hanson. He was a mechanic at Adams Garage for 51 years and<br />
then at Wilson Brothers for one year, both in <strong>Hanover</strong>. John was a volunteer fireman for<br />
more then 50 years for the <strong>Hanover</strong> Fire Department and served as the fire chief from<br />
1967 until 1977. John died January 13, 1997 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />
