son <strong>of</strong> John and Pauline (Goelzer) Woodford. He married Barbara Johnsen on August<br />
25, 1956 in Oak Park and three sons were born to this union: Mark Woodford, Stuart<br />
Woodford, and Ge<strong>of</strong>frey Woodford. He started his career at Brown, Brothers, Harriman<br />
and Company in Chicago and worked at various other financial institutions throughout<br />
Illinois. He was the Illinois State Treasurer from 1970 until 1971. They lived in<br />
Chicago for many years before they retired to rural <strong>Hanover</strong> in the 1990s. Charles died<br />
February 21, 2009 and is buried at Prospect Hill Cemetery in rural Galena.<br />
Woods, Leona Catherine (Cliff) was born November 13, 1912 in <strong>Hanover</strong> and was the<br />
daughter <strong>of</strong> Richard Henry and Hattie “Dot” (Cole) Cliff. She graduated from <strong>Hanover</strong><br />
High School in 1930 and from Brown’s College <strong>of</strong> Commerce. Leona married Vernon<br />
C. Woods on July 6, 1951 in Clinton, Iowa and no children were born to this union.<br />
Leona lived in the Quad Cities for many years where she worked at the Rock Island<br />
Arsenal until she retired in 1967. They moved to Ellenton, Florida and later moved<br />
back to <strong>Hanover</strong>. Leona died July 14, 1995 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />
Woods, Vernon Charles was born February 28, 1909 in Clinton, Iowa and was the son<br />
<strong>of</strong> Valentine Cook “V.C.” and Laura Marie (Bunderson) Woods. He married Leona C.<br />
Cliff <strong>of</strong> <strong>Hanover</strong> on July 5, 1951 in Clinton, Iowa and no children were born to this<br />
union. He retired from the Rock Island Arsenal in 1966 and they moved to Ellenton,<br />
Florida. Vernon died September 2, 1981 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />
Wullweber, Henry Leo was born August 25, 1892 in Galena, Illinois and was the son<br />
<strong>of</strong> Bernard and Amelia (Dunkel) Wullweber. Henry farmed most <strong>of</strong> his life. He lived in<br />
Blanding for a number <strong>of</strong> years and his later years in <strong>Hanover</strong>. Henry died October 4,<br />
1982 and is buried in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Galena.<br />
Wunder, Alfred John “A.J.” or “Al” was born July 8, 1918 in Rocky Ford, Colorado<br />
and was the son <strong>of</strong> Alfred Peter and Myrtle (Ikelman) Wunder. He attended Western<br />
Colorado State College in Gunnison. A.J. was a World War <strong>II</strong> U.S. Army Air Corps<br />
Veteran. He married Iva Mildred “Millie” Davis on August 15, 1945 in Waldorf,<br />
Maryland and two sons were born to this union: Ralph Davis Wunder and Randall<br />
“Randy” Alan Wunder. The family moved to <strong>Hanover</strong> in 1952 and he was employed at<br />
the Savanna Army Depot as Supervisory Quality Assurance Specialist, Ammunition<br />
Surveillance. A.J. retired as the Chief <strong>of</strong> Conventional Ammunition at the Ammunition<br />
School in 1973 after 30 years <strong>of</strong> service to the U.S. Government. He was also an awardwinning<br />
artist. A.J. died December 13, 1993 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />
Wunder, Iva Mildred “Millie” (Davis) was born June 10, 1917 in Clark, South Dakota<br />
and was the daughter <strong>of</strong> Hugh Edward and Iva Mildred (Burns) Davis. She grew up<br />
near Clark then moved to town to work at the county courthouse for several years. In<br />
1942 she went to <strong>Was</strong>hington, D.C. and worked at the Pentagon. There she met her<br />
future husband at the USO Club and she married Alfred John “A.J.” Wunder on August<br />
15, 1945 in Waldorf, Maryland. Two sons were born to this union: Ralph Davis<br />
Wunder and Randall “Randy” Alan Wunder. The family moved to <strong>Hanover</strong> in 1952.<br />
Millie died July 21, 2002 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />
Wunderlin, Elizabeth “Liz” May (Jeidy) was born February 6, 1905 in Bloomington,<br />
Wisconsin and was the daughter <strong>of</strong> Ora Henry and Lillian Florence (Boinger) Jeidy.<br />
She married Percy Earl Wunderlin on October 31, 1931 and four sons were born to this<br />
union: John Ora Wunderlin, Roger Lee Wunderlin, Richard Wunderlin, and Gary<br />
Wunderlin. The family lived in <strong>Hanover</strong> from 1941 until 1963 when Liz moved to
