she was 78 years old when she retired from playing. The family lived in <strong>Hanover</strong> for<br />
many years before moving to Truth or Consequences, New Mexico. After the death <strong>of</strong><br />
her husband in 1995 she moved to Freeport. Blanche died February 24, 1999 and is<br />
buried in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, Freeport.<br />
Mitchell, Clarence “Mitch” Junior was born September 29, 1925 in <strong>Hanover</strong> and was<br />
the son <strong>of</strong> Clarence “Rudy” W. and Blanche Elva (Straitt) Mitchell. He graduated from<br />
<strong>Hanover</strong> High School in 1943. Clarence was a World War <strong>II</strong> U.S. Navy Veteran.<br />
Clarence was first married to Annette Mitchell and later to Nancy Mitchell. He had<br />
three children: Janet (Mitchell) Perkins, Sarah Jean Mitchell, and James Mitchell. He<br />
was employed in the sales pr<strong>of</strong>ession and was living in Las Cruces, New Mexico at the<br />
time <strong>of</strong> his death. Clarence died March 26, 1991 and a memorial service was held in<br />
Freeport, Illinois.<br />
Mitchell, Clarence “Rudy” W. was born December 26, 1902 in Newman, Illinois and<br />
was the son <strong>of</strong> George E. and Rachel K. (Clark) Mitchell. He married Blanche Elva<br />
Straitt on June 23, 1925 in Dubuque, Iowa and three children were born to this union:<br />
Clarence “Mitch” Junior Mitchell, Mildred Anna (Mitchell) Hubbard, and Rachel Jean<br />
(Mitchell) Stees. While living in the <strong>Hanover</strong> area he was employed at the <strong>Hanover</strong><br />
Woolen Mill, the Savanna Army Depot and also did electrical work. Rudy was well<br />
known for his musical talent. He moved to Truth or Consequences, New Mexico and<br />
died there on February 13, 1995. A service was held at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens<br />
in Freeport and cremation rites were accorded.<br />
Mitchell, Maynard Eugene was born April 22, 1905 in Dodgeville, Wisconsin and was<br />
the son <strong>of</strong> James and Maude Mary (Slater) Mitchell. He graduated from Dodgeville<br />
High School. Maynard married Myrtle Charlene Robinson on March 12, 1936 in<br />
Savanna and three children were born to this union: Charlene Mae (Mitchell) Kevern,<br />
Phillip Maynard Mitchell, and Clifford Marion Mitchell. He and his wife operated<br />
Mitchell’s Café from 1935 until 1968 and Mitchell’s Ben Franklin from 1947 until<br />
1977. Maynard served on the <strong>Hanover</strong> School Board, <strong>Hanover</strong> Village Board, and the<br />
Board <strong>of</strong> Directors <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Hanover</strong> State Bank. Maynard died December 31, 2000 and is<br />
buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />
Mitchell, Myrtle Charlene (Robinson) was born October 26, 1915 in <strong>Hanover</strong> and was<br />
the daughter <strong>of</strong> Charles Edwin and Florence Dashiell (Graham) Robinson. She<br />
graduated from <strong>Hanover</strong> High School in 1933. Myrtle married Maynard Eugene<br />
Mitchell on March 12, 1936 in Savanna and three children were born to this union:<br />
Charlene Mae (Mitchell) Kevern, Phillip Maynard Mitchell, and Clifford Marion<br />
Mitchell. In 1947 Myrtle and Maynard opened a variety store in <strong>Hanover</strong>, in 1957 it<br />
became known as Mitchell’s Ben Franklin Store, they sold the business in 1977. They<br />
also owned and operated a restaurant in <strong>Hanover</strong> for many years. Myrtle died July 6,<br />
2010 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />
M<strong>of</strong>fett, Eugene Wilkins was born February 28, 1908 in Cherryvale, Kansas and was<br />
the son <strong>of</strong> Dr. Adam and Laura May (Wilkin) M<strong>of</strong>fett. The family lived in Derinda<br />
Township for a few years and later moved to <strong>Hanover</strong>. Eugene graduated from <strong>Hanover</strong><br />
High School in 1925. Eugene later received his PhD degree and worked as a chemist<br />
for many years. He was employed by Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company in Milwaukee,<br />
Wisconsin for a time and later transferred to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He married<br />
Helen Elizabeth Wilson and one daughter was born to this union. His wife Helen was<br />
