Schwirtz, John “Jack”Nicholas was born October 16, 1914 in Bellevue, Iowa and was<br />
the son <strong>of</strong> Frank Herman and Helen (Janssen) Schwirtz. He married Erma LeClaire<br />
Beeler on December 26, 1936 in Maquoketa, Iowa and three children were born to this<br />
union: Henry John Schwirtz, Anne Helen (Schwirtz) Sullivan, and Frank Nicholas<br />
Schwirtz. They lived in <strong>Hanover</strong> for a time before moving to Elizabeth. Jack was<br />
owner and car dealer for Chevrolet-Oldsmobile in the area for 35 years. Jack died<br />
January 8, 1990 and is buried in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Elizabeth.<br />
Scotchbrook, Vera Verona (White) Gouse was born January 13, 1895. She graduated<br />
from <strong>Hanover</strong> High School in 1912. Vera began teaching school in Stockton, Illinois in<br />
1921 and remained on the faculty for 20 years. She was married to Dr. Melvin H.<br />
Gouse, who was a 1914 <strong>Hanover</strong> High School graduate and was a dentist in Stockton<br />
for many years. The couple divorced and Vera married Ray M. Scotchbrook, who was<br />
the publisher <strong>of</strong> the Stockton News. Ray was born February 10, 1887 in Morrison,<br />
Illinois and died December 12, 1965 in Warren, Illinois. Vera died in November 1978<br />
in Boulder Junction, Wisconsin.<br />
See, Evan R. was born February 28, 1947 in Chicago, Illinois and was the son <strong>of</strong><br />
Charles and Martha See. His first years <strong>of</strong> school were at the <strong>Hanover</strong> School and he<br />
later graduated from Elizabeth High School in 1965. He was a U.S. Navy Vietnam<br />
Veteran. Evan married Patricia Hopewell on December 18, 1970 and they had one<br />
daughter: Paula See. Miller Transportation Company employed him as a driver. Evan<br />
died February 18, 1982 and is buried in Sunset Memorial Gardens, Machesney Park,<br />
Illinois.<br />
Self, Marjorie Eileen (Eadie) was born August 25, 1927 in <strong>Hanover</strong> and was the<br />
daughter <strong>of</strong> Raymond “Bay” Robert and Margaret “Nell” (Muchow) Eadie. She grew<br />
up and attended school in <strong>Hanover</strong>. Marjorie lived in Littleton, Colorado for a time.<br />
She married John A. Self on March 22, 1974 in Los Angeles, California. Marjorie died<br />
July 15, 1998 in Reno, Nevada.<br />
Semrow, Nina Iona (Cook) was born April 6, 1900 in Rodden, Elizabeth Township, Jo<br />
Daviess County and was the daughter <strong>of</strong> Amaziah K. and Ellen (Merrifield) Cook. She<br />
married Robert August Semrow on January 24, 1920 in Galena and two children were<br />
born to this union: Clyde “Sam” Robert Semrow and Winifred “Winnie” Ellen<br />
(Semrow) Kilpatrick. She operated the General Store in Rodden for 40 years and later<br />
worked for the Eaton Corporation for 15 years before retiring in 1980. Robert died in<br />
July 1936 and Nina died December 3, 1986. They are both buried in Evergreen<br />
Cemetery.<br />
Service, Dale William was born April 30, 1930 in Spaulding, Illinois and was the son<br />
<strong>of</strong> James and Nancy America (Haile) Service. Dale worked as a manufacturing engineer<br />
for Eaton Corporation in Carol Stream, Illinois and in <strong>Hanover</strong>. Dale had seven<br />
children: Dale Glen Service, Dallas Ray Service, Douglas Lavern Service, Donald Lee<br />
Service, Christine Ruth (Service) Skiwrka, Carla Deanne (Service) Birtles, and Cheryl<br />
Kay Service. He married Margaret Wild on April 29, 1973 in Galena and one daughter<br />
was born to this union: Kathleen Margaret (Service) Benavides. Dale died November<br />
9, 2006 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />
Service-Shaw, Julia was stillborn on August 4, 1996 in Dubuque, Iowa and was the<br />
daughter <strong>of</strong> Kathleen Margaret Service <strong>of</strong> <strong>Hanover</strong> and Scott Ryan Shaw <strong>of</strong> Clinton,<br />
Iowa. Julia is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.
