daughter of John Louis and Salomie “Loma” Lousia (Glover) Hunt. She married
Andrew “Andy” Walker Finley on October 23, 1929 in Philippi, West Virginia and five
children were born to this union: James Robert “Bob” Finley, Mary Alice (Finley)
Pittman, Thomas Andy Finley, Francis Finley, and Michael M. Finley. The family
moved to Hanover in 1949 and in the mid 1950s moved to Florida. Anna was the
postmaster at the post office in New Martinsville, West Virginia for a number of years.
Anna died August 8, 1982 in New Martinsville.
Finley, James Robert “Bob” was born November 28, 1932 in Burton, West Virginia
and was the son of Andrew “Andy” Walker and Anna Marie (Hunt) Finley. The family
moved to Hanover in 1949. Bob graduated from Hanover High School in 1950 and later
graduated from West Virginia University. Bob was a U.S. Army Veteran. He married
Jeanne Bryant on May 6, 1961 in New Martinsville, West Virginia and three children
were born to this union: Katharine “Kathy” Marie Finley, Bryan Andrew Finley, and
James “Jim” Robert Finley II. Bob worked as a CPA/Comptroller and the family lived
in Richardson, Texas for many years. Bob died November 11, 1988 and is buried in
Restland Cemetery, Dallas.
Fischer, Edmund Frank was born October 7, 1917 in Woodbine, Jo Daviess County
and was the son of Frank Frederick and Elsie (Schreck) Fisher. He married Genevieve
Reed on December 21, 1935 in Elizabeth and three daughters were born to this union:
Janice (Fischer) O’Brien, Joan (Fischer) Jacobs, and Diane (Fischer) Rees. He lived in
Hanover for a short time before moving to Elizabeth. Edmund was in partnership with
Donald Fischer, in Fischer Plumbing and Heating before retirement in 1984. Edmund
died April 6, 1988 and is buried in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Elizabeth.
Fischer, Wyla Allene (Oates) was born November 8, 1926 in Mount Hope, Wisconsin
and was the daughter of Cecil Eugene and Mona Bell (Crubaugh) Oates. She graduated
from Hanover High School in 1945. Wyla married Donald Lawrence Fischer on May
12, 1947 in Elizabeth and three children were born to this union: Joanne Allene
(Fischer) Haas, Steven Eugene Fischer, and Randy Marie (Fischer) Miller. She had
worked at the Savanna Army Depot, the United States Postal Service in Elizabeth, the
State of Illinois and was a secretary for Fischer’s Plumbing and Heating in Elizabeth.
Wyla died March 9, 2000 and is buried in St. Mary Catholic Church Cemetery,
Elizabeth.
Fishburn, Miriam Jean (Burns) was born January 3, 1932 and was the daughter of
Frank Lenoir and Miriam Anita (Lombard) Burns. She graduated from Hanover High
School in 1949 and from Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing in Freeport in 1952.
Jean was married to Dr. William “Bill” R. Fishburn and had four children: Sarah Elynn
(Fishburn) Gerety, John William Fishburn, Peter Thomas Fishburn, and Joseph Paul
Fishburn. The family moved to Albuquerque, New Mexico where Dr. Fishburn was a
professor at the University of New Mexico and also was a Psychologist in private
practice. Jean worked as a nurse for many years and also worked in her husband’s
office. Jean moved to Sebring, Florida in 1985 to be near her parents. Jean died
December 27, 2006 and cremation rites were accorded.
Flack, Florence Geneva (Irwin) was born October 29, 1900 in Hanover and was the
daughter of Thomas Drury and Mary (Barnes) Irwin. She graduated from Hanover High
School in 1918 and attended Northern Illinois University in De Kalb. Geneva married
Frank Lester Flack on October 6, 1920 in Hanover and six children were born to this
