Girot, Joseph Vincent was born January 22, 1940 in rural <strong>Hanover</strong> and was the son <strong>of</strong><br />

Vincent Joseph and Margaret Ann (Haas) Girot. He attended school at the Black<br />

Country School and the <strong>Hanover</strong> School. He married Margaret Sheean Everett February<br />

14, 1961 and five children were born to this union: Rose Ann <strong>Was</strong>son, Anthony J.<br />

Girot, who was stillborn, Michael Patrick <strong>Was</strong>son, Patrick Michael <strong>Was</strong>son, and<br />

Christine Marie <strong>Was</strong>son. Joe and Margaret were divorced on December 24, 1969 and<br />

he married Rose Jewell (Lindecker) Reimer on July 4, 1970 in Nashua, Iowa. This union<br />

gave him one stepson: David Lynn Reimer Girot, and one daughter was born to this<br />

union: Nicole Lee Girot. Joe was an over-the-road trucker for most <strong>of</strong> his life, retiring<br />

in 2006. He lived in rural East Dubuque for many years. Joe died July 27, 2009; he was<br />

cremated and his ashes were spread on the family farm.<br />

Girot, Margaret Ann (Haas) was born January 10, 1909 in Pleasant Valley, Jo Daviess<br />

County and was the daughter <strong>of</strong> Joseph George and Martha Jeanette (Dolan) Haas. She<br />

married Vincent Joseph Girot on November 6, 1926 in Galena and five children were<br />

born to this union: Lois Martha (Girot) Miller, Leuellen Mae (Girot) Klemme, Stella<br />

Marie “Gig” (Girot) Holland, Joseph Vincent Girot, and Ronald Edmund Girot.<br />

Margaret worked at the <strong>Hanover</strong> Woolen Mill during the 1930s and later at the Savanna<br />

Army Depot during World War <strong>II</strong>, and then Mitchell’s Café in <strong>Hanover</strong> during the<br />

1950s, and later at Chestnut Mountain Resort. In 1965 she began her employment at<br />

Eaton Corporation and retired in 1975. They also farmed in rural <strong>Hanover</strong> for many<br />

years until they sold the farm in 1976 and moved to <strong>Hanover</strong>. Margaret was visiting her<br />

son Ron when she died March 11, 1996 in Beaford, Texas. She is buried in Evergreen<br />

Cemetery.<br />

Girot, Ronald “Ron” Edmund was born August 2, 1942 in rural <strong>Hanover</strong> and was the<br />

son <strong>of</strong> Vincent Joseph and Margaret Ann (Haas) Girot. He attended the Black Country<br />

School and <strong>Hanover</strong> School. He married Margaret “Mag” Ann Madigan on April 22,<br />

1961 and five children were born to this union: Todd Edmund Girot (1961-1963), Paul<br />

Joseph Girot, Rogene Ann (Girot) Beyer, Peggy Marie (Girot) Grube, and Kim Lynette<br />

(Girot) Johnson. He and Mag were divorced in March 1980 and he married Jamie<br />

(Cr<strong>of</strong>foot) Ferrell on August 30, 1980. He owned and operated Girot Building and Land<br />

Improvement in <strong>Hanover</strong> for ten years and was also the Chief <strong>of</strong> Police in <strong>Hanover</strong> for a<br />

number <strong>of</strong> years. Ron and Jamie moved to Texas in May 1984. Ron restored vintage<br />

cars and oversaw the truck fleet for SkiHi Mechanical. Ron died February 25, 2008 in<br />

Sanger, Texas and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />

Girot, Vincent Joseph was born October 31, 1904 in Galena, Illinois and was the son<br />

<strong>of</strong> Paul Joseph Vital and Martha Juliette (Quille) Girot. He married Margaret Ann Haas<br />

on November 6, 1926 and five children were born to this union: Lois Martha (Girot)<br />

Miller, Leuellen Mae (Girot) Klemme, Stella Marie “Gig” (Girot) Holland, Joseph<br />

Vincent Girot, and Ronald Edmund Girot. They farmed in rural <strong>Hanover</strong> until 1976<br />

when they moved to the village <strong>of</strong> <strong>Hanover</strong>. Vincent died December 1, 1988 and is<br />

buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />

Glasgow, Nathan was the son <strong>of</strong> David and Karen Ann (Bohnsack) Glasgow. Nathan<br />

was an infant when he died December 6, 1980. The family lived in Maquoketa, Iowa.<br />

Nathan is buried in Evergreen Cemetery. In 2010 Nathan’s body was disinterred and<br />

moved to Saint Mary’s Cemetery, Galena.<br />
