She was educated in the Pleasant Hill Country School. Elizabeth married William
Wand on December 27, 1932 in Elizabeth and seven children were born to this union:
Judy (Wand) McGivney, Mary Lou (Wand) Schaible, Alvin Wand, Wayne Wand, Dale
Wand, Bob Wand, and William Wand. Her husband William died August 7, 1957 and
she married Harold Rayhorn on November 11, 1960 in Elizabeth. Elizabeth died March
29, 2002 and is buried in St. Mary Catholic Church Cemetery, Elizabeth.
Rayhorn, Lorraine Elizabeth (Ganshirt) was born February 24, 1924 and was the
daughter of Aloysius Oscar “Allie” and Wilhelmina “Minnie” (Glick) Ganshirt. She
was married to Kenneth Albert Rayhorn and 11 children were born to this union:
Wilhelmena “Billie” Ethel (Rayhorn) Nolan, Judith “Judy” Ann (Rayhorn) Wand,
Kenneth John Rayhorn, Kathleen “Kathy” Susan (Rayhorn) Stoval, Victoria “Vickie”
Lynn (Rayhorn) Yoeckel, Karen Ellen (Rayhorn) Switzer, twins Dennis Lee Rayhorn
and Debra “Debbie Rae (Rayhorn) Cocagne, Gregg Rayhorn, and twins Robert Walter
Rayhorn and Roberta Irene (Rayhorn) Ware. They lived in Hanover for a few years in
the 1970s before moving to Galena. Her husband Kenneth died May 31, 1975. Lorraine
died March 6, 1982 and is buried in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Galena.
Read, Charlene Mercedes (Eadie) was born October 23, 1917 in Hanover and was the
daughter of John Joseph and Caroline Josephine (Rall) Eadie. She graduated from
Hanover High School in 1935. Charlene married Maurice Rosswell Read on February
17, 1938 in Dubuque and two children were born to this union: Maureen Kay (Read)
Kolocek and David Maurice Read. Charlene was employed in the insurance department
of the Jo Daviess County Farm Bureau in Elizabeth until she retired in 1977. Charlene
died September 22, 1992 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.
Read, Maurice Rosswell was born July 28, 1914 in Elizabeth Township, Jo Daviess
County and was the son of Lawrence LeeRoy and Dorothea “Dora” (Myers) Read. He
graduated from Elizabeth High School in 1933. Maurice married Charlene Mercedes
Eadie on February 17, 1938 in Dubuque and two children were born to this union:
Maureen Kay (Read) Kolocek and David Maurice Read. He was employed at the
Savanna Army Depot until his retirement in 1957, and then worked for the Elizabeth
Garage for 20 years. Maurice died December 16, 1991 and is buried in Evergreen
Cemetery.
Ready, Dorothy Jeanette was born October 25, 1937 in Hanover and was the daughter
of Clarence A. and Bernice Lucille (Garrow) Ready. Dorothy lived in Savanna for
many years and had one son, Johnny Ray Ready. She worked as a cook at Gourley’s
Restaurant in Savanna. Dorothy died January 12, 2001 and is buried in Savanna
Township Cemetery.
Reasor, Phillip was born October 2, 1947 in Paris, Illinois and was the son of Arthur
Eugene and Geraldine (Clark) Reasor. He was a U.S. Navy Vietnam Veteran. Phillip
married Sandra S. Brown on December 17, 1967 and two children were born to this
union: Matthew Reasor and Holly Reasor. He received his Masters Degree from
Eastern Illinois University and his Ph.D from Southern Illinois University. He was
Superintendent of River Ridge School. Phillip died June 21, 1996; he was cremated and
his ashes were spread over the Atlantic Ocean.
Redington, Carl Andrew was born August 26, 1914 in Apple River, Illinois and was
the son of Michael Francis and Mary Mayme (Gable) Redington. He married Gladys
