born to this union: Martha L. Speer, Elizabeth J. Speer, Margaret L. Speer, and Robert<br />
L. Speer. He lived in <strong>Hanover</strong> for a number <strong>of</strong> years and later moved to Freeport,<br />
Illinois.<br />
Sprecher, Margaret Fern (Phillips) was born December 13, 1931 in Spring Green,<br />
Wisconsin and was the daughter <strong>of</strong> Harvey Bernard and Cecelia Ann (Duren) Phillips.<br />
She graduated from Lone Rock High School in 1949. Fern married Marvin “Brownie”<br />
Edward Sprecher on October 21, 1950 in San Diego, California and five children were<br />
born to this union: Linda Jane (Sprecher) Schoenmann, Brenda Susan Sprecher, Diana<br />
Marie (Sprecher) Taylor, Pamela “Pam” Kay (Sprecher) Wheelwright and Perry Alan<br />
Sprecher. The family moved to <strong>Hanover</strong> in the 1960s where Fern worked as a waitress,<br />
an Avon lady, a floral representative, a bus driver for River Ridge and <strong>Hanover</strong> School<br />
district for 32 years until she retired in 2006, and as a bartender at the <strong>Hanover</strong> VFW<br />
until 2008. Fern died at the home <strong>of</strong> her daughter Pam in Elizabeth on December 7,<br />
2010 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />
Sprecher, Marvin “Brownie” Edward was born May 20, 1924 in Spring Green,<br />
Wisconsin and was the son <strong>of</strong> Arthur “Art” Roy and Ethel Belinda (Strait) Sprecher. He<br />
graduated from Lone Rock High School in 1943. Brownie served in the U.S. Navy<br />
during World War <strong>II</strong> and the Korean War. He married Margaret Fern Phillips on<br />
October 21, 1950 in San Diego, California and five children were born to this union:<br />
Linda Jane (Sprecher) Schoenmann, Brenda Susan Sprecher, Diana Marie (Sprecher)<br />
Taylor, Pamela “Pam” Kay (Sprecher) Wheelwright, and Perry Alan Sprecher. The<br />
family moved to <strong>Hanover</strong> in the 1960s where Brownie worked as a security guard at the<br />
Savanna Army Depot until he retired in 1987. Brownie was sexton <strong>of</strong> the <strong>Hanover</strong><br />
cemeteries for many years. Brownie died October 29, 2007 and is buried in Evergreen<br />
Cemetery.<br />
Sproule, Earl “Rusty” Henry was born January 28, 1920 in Galena, Illinois and was<br />
the son <strong>of</strong> Cyrus Raymond and Della Clara (Byme) Sproule Sr. He married Helen Jean<br />
Myhre on March 25, 1945 in Chicago and fourteen children were born to this union:<br />
Susan Jean (Sproule) Hillbery, Timothy “Tim” Earl Sproule, Sandra Marie (Sproule)<br />
Koolstra, James “Jim” Wesley Sproule, Earl Henry Sproule, Lorna Ann (Sproule)<br />
Mongan, Mary Jane (Sproule) Berning, Margo Therese Sproule, Robert John Sproule,<br />
Elizabeth “Beth” Alice (Sproule) Thorngren, Thomas Richard Sproule, Roger Alan<br />
Sproule, and twin sons that died in infancy, Dean and Gene Sproule. He had worked at<br />
an antique store in Galena for several years and had been a car salesman before that.<br />
The family lived in Galena for a number <strong>of</strong> years and later moved to <strong>Hanover</strong> and then<br />
to Freeport. Helen died on March 7, 2004 and Rusty died July 17, 2007. They are both<br />
buried in St. Michael Catholic Church Cemetery, Galena.<br />
Sproule, Mildred Martha (Eade) was born June 30, 1916 in <strong>Hanover</strong> and was the<br />
daughter <strong>of</strong> Archabald “Archie” Joseph and Ethel Dell (Limage) Eade. She graduated<br />
from <strong>Hanover</strong> High School in 1936. Mildred married Clayton Robert Sproule and three<br />
know children were born to this union. They lived in Texas for a time and later moved<br />
to Jackson, Tennessee. Clayton died November 18, 1988 and Mildred died July 2, 1988.<br />
They died in Jackson and their bodies were donated to the University <strong>of</strong> Tennessee for<br />
research purposes.<br />
St. John, Charles Clive was born November 26, 1905 in <strong>Hanover</strong> and was the son <strong>of</strong><br />
William Louis and Mary Ann (Chapman) St. John. He graduated from <strong>Hanover</strong> High
