in Clinton, Iowa and six children were born to this union: Gordon William “Bill”<br />

Hatfield, Robert Bruce Hatfield, Sharon Jean (Hatfield) Dethlefsen, Sandra “Sunny”<br />

Lynn (Hatfield) Block, Jerald Duane Hatfield, and Richard Keith Hatfield. He farmed<br />

in the Elizabeth area from 1938 until he retired in 1982. He was also a feed salesman<br />

for Moorman Manufacturing Feed Company for more than 22 years, retiring in 1979.<br />

Gordon died January 2, 1992 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />

Hatfield, Geraldine “Gerri” Lucille (Kuhns) was born December 17, 1919 in<br />

<strong>Hanover</strong> and was the daughter <strong>of</strong> Orville Austin and Thelma Mae (Paynter) Kuhns. She<br />

graduated from <strong>Hanover</strong> High School in 1937. Gerri married Charles John Gordon<br />

Hatfield on January 20, 1938 in Clinton, Iowa and six children were born to this union:<br />

Gordon William “Bill” Hatfield, Robert Bruce Hatfield, Sharon Jean Hatfield, Sandra<br />

“Sunny” Lynn (Hatfield) Hughes, Jerald Duane Hatfield, and Richard Keith Hatfield.<br />

She farmed with her husband for many years in rural Elizabeth and also worked at Eaton<br />

Corporation in <strong>Hanover</strong> for ten years, was the director <strong>of</strong> the Northern Illinois Agency<br />

on Aging, worked at the senior center in Galena, was the assistant secretary at the<br />

Extension <strong>of</strong>fice and in 1985 became the librarian at the Elizabeth Public Library. Gerri<br />

died June 29, 2004 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />

Hatfield, Robert Bruce was born June 12, 1944 and was the son <strong>of</strong> Charles John<br />

Gordon and Geraldine Lucille (Kuhns) Hatfield. He graduated from Elizabeth High<br />

School in 1963. Robert lived most <strong>of</strong> his life in rural Elizabeth. Robert died October<br />

31, 2005 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />

Hatheway, Leo Edward was born April 21, 1939 in Clinton, Iowa and was the son <strong>of</strong><br />

Perley Jay and Lillian Martha (Kaczinski) Hatheway. He graduated from <strong>Hanover</strong> High<br />

School in 1956 and from Morrison Institute <strong>of</strong> Technology. Leo married Betty Jo<br />

Carroll on August 18, 1957 in Morrison and six children were born to this union: Twila<br />

A. (Hatheway) Van Brocklin, Tina M. (Hatheway) Bardell, Perley “Pat” J. Hatheway,<br />

Teresa J. (Hatheway) Bonjour, John E. Hatheway, and Leo Hatheway Jr. He worked as<br />

a semi-truck driver for Kness Trucking in Chadwick for his last 15 years and was<br />

previously a milk hauler and farmer in the Thomson area. Leo was living in Savanna<br />

when he died February 20, 2002. Cremation rites were accorded.<br />

Haug, Antoinette “Bob” Elizabeth (Buenger) was born October 20, 1903 in Swiss<br />

Alps, Texas and was the daughter <strong>of</strong> the Reverend Otto Johannes “John” and Louise<br />

Henrietta (Franke) Buenger. She was an elementary schoolteacher from 1922 until<br />

1928. She married John “Jack” Ernest Haug on August 20, 1928 in Mount Carroll and<br />

seven children were born to this union: John Edward Haug, Louise Marie (Haug)<br />

Tippett, Mary Catherine (Haug) Norwood, Jacqueline Jean (Haug) Schulz, Carolyn Ann<br />

(Haug) Crawford, Bob Haug, and Thomas R. Haug. They farmed in the Elizabeth and<br />

<strong>Hanover</strong> area from 1940 until 1971. Antoinette died December 1, 1993 and is buried in<br />

the Elizabeth Cemetery.<br />

Haug, Frederick “Fred” William was born December 17, 1907 in <strong>Hanover</strong> Township<br />

and was the son <strong>of</strong> George John and Marie Mary (Reifsteck) Haug. He graduated from<br />

<strong>Hanover</strong> High School in 1926. Fred married Dorothy Laskowski and three children<br />

were born to this union: Sharon “Sherry” Haug, Fred Haug Jr., and George Haug. The<br />

family lived in Peoria, Illinois for many years. Fred died April 11,1987 in Peoria.<br />
