Haug, John “Jack” Ernest was born February 19, 1903 in <strong>Hanover</strong> Township and was<br />
the son <strong>of</strong> George John and Marie Mary (Reifsteck) Haug. He married Antoinette<br />
Buenger on August 20, 1928 in Mount Carroll and seven children were born to this<br />
union: John Edward Haug, Louise Marie (Haug) Tippett, Mary Catherine (Haug)<br />
Norwood, Jacqueline Jean (Haug) Schulz, Carolyn Ann (Haug) Crawford, Bob Haug,<br />
and Thomas R. Haug. They farmed in the Elizabeth-<strong>Hanover</strong> area from 1940 until<br />
1971. John died October 12, 1991 and is buried in Elizabeth Cemetery.<br />
Haug, Leo Eugene was born July 21, 1911 in <strong>Hanover</strong> Township and was the son <strong>of</strong><br />
George John and Marie Mary (Reifsteck) Haug. He married Winifred Mabel Monnier<br />
on March 10, 1934 and six children were born to this union: Melvin Raymond Haug,<br />
Harvey Lee Haug, Merilyn Jean (Haug) Ross, LaDelle Elaine (Haug) Mackeben, Phyllis<br />
Carol (Haug) Hermann, and Leo Rodger Haug Jr. He was a lifelong farmer and past<br />
Woodbine Township supervisor. Leo died November 17, 1985 and Winifred died<br />
January 12, 1994 and they are both buried in Woodbine Cemetery.<br />
Haug, Louis Herman was born November 8, 1900 in <strong>Hanover</strong> Township and was the<br />
son <strong>of</strong> George John and Marie Mary (Reifsteck) Haug. He married Lavina Sarah<br />
Groezinger on March 4, 1926 in Massbach and two children were born to this union:<br />
Charlice Rosena (Haug) Offenheiser and Harlan Alfred Haug. He farmed in the Derinda<br />
area most <strong>of</strong> his life. Louis died July 8, 1984 and Lavina died March 11, 1999 and they<br />
are both buried in the Trinity Lutheran Church Cemetery, Derinda.<br />
Haupt, Henry McCaleb was born October 2, 1918 in Reinbeck, Iowa and was the son<br />
<strong>of</strong> the Reverend Christian and Mary M. (McCaleb) Haupt. His father was the minister<br />
at the United Presbyterian Church in <strong>Hanover</strong> from 1931 until 1937. Henry graduated<br />
from <strong>Hanover</strong> High School in 1936. He married Phyllis Mae McCann on May 3, 1941<br />
in Tama, Iowa and two boys and two girls were born to this union: one <strong>of</strong> the girls was<br />
Susan (Haupt) Hilton. The family lived in Freemont, California for a number <strong>of</strong> years<br />
and later moved to Los Gatos, California. Phyllis died in 1984 and Henry died June 8,<br />
2001 in Livermore, California.<br />
Hays, Harry Frederick was born July 5, 1885 in <strong>Hanover</strong> and was the son <strong>of</strong> Edward<br />
H. and Elizabeth “Bessie” D. Hays. He graduated from <strong>Hanover</strong> High School in 1903.<br />
Shortly after graduation the family moved to Portland, Oregon and Harry attended and<br />
graduated from Benke Walker Business College in 1906. Harry and his wife Dorothy<br />
had three children: Howard Vernon Hays, Robert Briggs Hays, and Dorothy Elizabeth<br />
(Hays) Bramsteadt. Harry moved to Cosmopolis, <strong>Was</strong>hington as a young man. Harry<br />
died in Cosmopolis on February 1, 1984.<br />
Hays, Mary Elizabeth (McCready) was born January 21, 1906 in Adeline, Illinois and<br />
was the daughter <strong>of</strong> John Clifford and Cora Elizabeth (Lizer) McCready. She graduated<br />
from Mount Morris High School in 1924. Mary married Max Everett Hays on<br />
November 23, 1932 in Mount Morris. She began working in the mailroom <strong>of</strong> Kable<br />
Printing Company in 1945 and continued with the Mount Morris company for 20 years.<br />
They lived in <strong>Hanover</strong> for a number <strong>of</strong> years and later lived in Savanna, Freeport, and<br />
Mount Morris. Mary died October 1, 1997 and is buried in Fairmount Cemetery, Polo.<br />
Hays, Max Everett was born September 30, 1906 in Buffalo Township, Ogle County<br />
and was the son <strong>of</strong> Charles Walter and Emma Viola (Bomberger) Hays. He graduated<br />
from Polo High School in 1924. Max was a World War <strong>II</strong> U.S. Army Veteran. He<br />
married Mary Elizabeth McCready on November 23, 1932 in Mount Morris. Max was a<br />
