worked in the <strong>Hanover</strong> grocery store before retiring in 1964. Fern died April 30, 1992<br />

and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />

Cook, Jessie Elizabeth (Franklin) was born October 6, 1913 in Carterville, Illinois and<br />

was the daughter <strong>of</strong> Leander and Rose Anna (Johnston) Franklin. She married Roy<br />

Cyril Cook on July 3, 1937 in Wickliffe, Kentucky and two sons were born to this<br />

union: Michael Leander Cook and Donald Cook. They lived in southern Illinois until<br />

1946 when they moved to Edgemont, South Dakota where her husband worked at the<br />

Black Hills Army Depot. They moved to <strong>Hanover</strong> in 1965 when Roy was transferred to<br />

the Savanna Army Depot. Jessie moved back to Edgemont after her husband died in<br />

1973. Jessie died July 15, 2006 and is buried in Edgemont Cemetery, Edgemont, South<br />

Dakota.<br />

Cook, Mary E. (Fuller) was born March 2, 1913. She married Carl Abijah Cook and<br />

no children were born to this union. They moved from California, Missouri to <strong>Hanover</strong><br />

in the late 1930s to work in the <strong>Hanover</strong> Woolen Mill. After they retired they later<br />

moved back to California and Mary died there on July 31, 2008.<br />

Cook, Michael “Mike” Leander was born December 5, 1940 in southern Illinois and<br />

was the son <strong>of</strong> Roy Cyril and Jessie Elizabeth (Franklin) Cook. He graduated from<br />

Edgemont, South Dakota High School in 1959. He was in the U.S. Navy for eight<br />

years. He moved to <strong>Hanover</strong> in the late 1960s and worked at the Savanna Army Depot<br />

until retiring in 1993. He was married, and divorced, to Patty Lynn Fulton. He later<br />

married Rita (Starr) Diestelmeier on February 20, 1983 in <strong>Hanover</strong> and this union gave<br />

him six step-children: Rodney “Rod” Eugene Diestelmeier, Rick Lynn Diestelmeier,<br />

Roxann Kay (Diestelmeier) Schultz, Renee Ann (Diestelmeier) Hastings, Raymie<br />

LaVerne Diestelmeier, and Robin Guy Diestelmeier. Mike died March 14, 2008 and is<br />

buried in Dubuque Memorial Gardens, Dubuque, Iowa.<br />

Cooley, Beulah (Hughes) was born September 25, 1921 in Wadena, Saskatchewan,<br />

Canada and was the daughter <strong>of</strong> Forest and Ava Mae (Elliot) Hughes. She married<br />

James “Jim” Martin Cooley on September 12, 1942 in Harrison, Nebraska and three<br />

daughters were born to this union: Sandra “Sandy” Jane (Cooley) Copeland, Barbara<br />

Lee (Cooley) Ferguson, and Wendolyn “Wendy” Jean (Cooley) Miller. They moved to<br />

<strong>Hanover</strong> from Igloo, South Dakota in 1966. They later moved to Crawford, Nebraska.<br />

Beulah died October 1, 1987 and is buried in Crawford.<br />

Cooley, James “Jim” Martin was born September 30, 1917 in Detroit, Michigan and<br />

was the son <strong>of</strong> William Martin and Sarah Jane (Tullock) Cooley. He married Beulah<br />

Hughes on September 12, 1942 in Harrison, Nebraska and three daughters were born to<br />

this union: Sandra “Sandy” Jane (Cooley) Copeland, Barbara Lee (Cooley) Ferguson,<br />

and Wendolyn “Wendy” Jean (Cooley) Miller. Jim worked at the Army Depot in Igloo,<br />

South Dakota for a number <strong>of</strong> years before moving to <strong>Hanover</strong> in 1966 to work at the<br />

Savanna Army Depot. They later moved to Crawford, Nebraska. Jim died August 20,<br />

1987 and is buried in Crawford.<br />

Cooper, Clayton Loraine was born June 6, 1900 in <strong>Hanover</strong> and was the son <strong>of</strong> Hiram<br />

Benson and Helen Jane (Speer) Cooper. He graduated from <strong>Hanover</strong> High School in<br />

1918. He lived in Burlington, Wisconsin for many years and died there in April 1987.<br />

Cooper, Edna (Glascock) was born October 22, 1887 and was the daughter <strong>of</strong> Abner<br />

and Martha Susan Glascock. She married Clarence Charles Cooper on August 14, 1914<br />
