Sandra Kay (Sherich) Wild. The family moved to <strong>Hanover</strong> when Burt was transferred<br />

to the Savanna Army Depot. He retired from the Army Depot in 1985. Burt died<br />

October 23, 2007 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />

Sheridan, Ann was born January 17, 1942 in Freeport, Illinois and was the daughter <strong>of</strong><br />

Ralph Phillip and Emma Albentina (Sullivan) Sheridan. She graduated from Aquin<br />

High School in Freeport and attended Marycrest College in Davenport, Iowa. She<br />

worked at the Edward D. Jones <strong>of</strong>fice in Freeport for a number <strong>of</strong> years. Ann died<br />

January 6, 2002 and she is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />

Sheridan, Emma Albentina (Sullivan) was born March 10, 1903 in <strong>Hanover</strong> and was<br />

the daughter <strong>of</strong> William John and Eda Caroline (Seeger) Sullivan. She graduated from<br />

<strong>Hanover</strong> High School in 1920. She married Ralph Phillip Sheridan on February 14,<br />

1926 in Chicago and five children were born to this union: Mary Jane (Sheridan)<br />

Bradley, Thomas Ralph Sheridan, Phillip William Sheridan, Ann Sheridan, and another<br />

son who died in infancy. Emma lived most <strong>of</strong> her adult life in Freeport, Illinois. She<br />

died in Freeport on March 3, 1980 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />

Sherrard, Mary Marcella (Peschang) was born September 2, 1906 in Rice Township,<br />

Jo Daviess County and was the daughter <strong>of</strong> Edward Harry and Rosalie Mary (Melchoir)<br />

Peschang. She married Arthur Sherrard on October 14, 1925 in Galena and two children<br />

were born to this union: Thomas Bernard Sherrard and Rose Mary (Sherrard) Ertmer.<br />

They farmed in rural <strong>Hanover</strong> for many years and later moved to the village <strong>of</strong> <strong>Hanover</strong>.<br />

Marcella died May 19, 2003 and is buried in Evergreen Cemetery.<br />

Shipton, <strong>Was</strong>hburne Denning was born January 19, 1893 in Derinda Township, Jo<br />

Daviess County and was the son <strong>of</strong> Thomas Denning and Harriett “Hattie” Ann<br />

(Campbell) Shipton. He graduated from <strong>Hanover</strong> High School in 1910, from Coe<br />

College, Cedar Rapids, Iowa and attended the University <strong>of</strong> Iowa, Iowa City, Iowa.<br />

<strong>Was</strong>hburne was a World War I Veteran. <strong>Was</strong>hburne taught at <strong>Was</strong>hington University in<br />

St. Louis, Missouri for many years. He and his wife Lorraine had two children: Carol<br />

(Shipton) Tocher and Thomas Shipton. <strong>Was</strong>hburne died in November 1981 and is<br />

buried in Montgomery City, Missouri.<br />

Shrake, Berniece Charlotte (Bailey) Bousman was born January 9, 1914 in <strong>Hanover</strong><br />

and was the daughter <strong>of</strong> Marcus David and Frances Mae (White) Bailey. She married<br />

William “Bill” Henery Bousman on January 14, 1932 <strong>Hanover</strong> and three children were<br />

born to this union: William Wayne Bousman, Charlene (Bousman) O’Neill, and<br />

Elizabeth (Bousman) Brinkmeier. Her husband William died in October 1968 and she<br />

married Ned Shrake in March 1969. He died in October 1978. She was an ammunition<br />

technician at the Savanna Army Depot before retiring in 1972. Berniece lived in<br />

Savanna for a number <strong>of</strong> years. Berniece died on February 4, 1992 and is buried in the<br />

Savanna Township Cemetery.<br />

Shrake, Howard G. was born May 24, 1909 in Savanna, Illinois and was the son <strong>of</strong><br />

Walter Q. and Caroline (Hart) Shrake. He farmed in <strong>Was</strong>hington Township, Carroll<br />

County for many years. Howard died July 19, 1994 and is buried in Lost Mound<br />

Cemetery.<br />

Shumaker, Jerome Lee was born December 31, 1943 in Freeport, Illinois and was the<br />

son <strong>of</strong> Richard and Caroline (Trutt) Shumaker. He attended Pearl City High School and<br />

graduated from the Police Academy in Champaign-Urbana. He married Darlene “Dolly”<br />

Rowe on June 1, 1964 and two daughters were born to this union: Laurie (Shumaker)
