ABSTRACT
AFRO-BRAZILIAN CIVILIZING VALUES, EDUCATIONAL
POLITICS AND SCHOOL CURRICULUMS
The present text is a brief account of the importance and necessity of
considering, in the elaboration of the pedagogical projects and school
curriculums, a set of conceptions that guide common social practices to
the Afro-Brazilian populations that, because of its notorious links to an
African past reconstructed in Brazil, was conventionally nominated Afro-
Brazilian civilizing values. One aims at calling the attention to the
historicity of these conceptions, as well as to the practices based on
them, as a deliberate way of making them figure in the sphere of the
educational politics with effective possibilities of collaborating with a
school formation, not only respectful of the differences, but, truly, pluricultural.
