The number of sockets in the ro<strong>to</strong>r and the corresponding sta<strong>to</strong>r may differ so that there is not a one-<strong>to</strong>-one<br />

relationship between the sockets in the ro<strong>to</strong>r and the sockets in the corresponding sta<strong>to</strong>r. Similarly, the number of<br />

magnets in any additional ro<strong>to</strong>r/sta<strong>to</strong>r sets may differ from the first ro<strong>to</strong>r/sta<strong>to</strong>r sets in order that the two sets are<br />

out of register at any given time. Some sockets may be left empty in either the ro<strong>to</strong>r or the corresponding sta<strong>to</strong>r,<br />

or both. The mo<strong>to</strong>r may have one or more ro<strong>to</strong>r/sta<strong>to</strong>r pairs of this type arranged in a stack. It is preferable for<br />

the magnets of adjacent ro<strong>to</strong>rs <strong>to</strong> be out of register, i.e. staggered or offset relative <strong>to</strong> each other.<br />
