available to actually help the students. I have had several advisor's tell me what classes Ineed to take and then by the following semester it has all changed. (without changing mydegree) I have had a horrible experience with the advisor's and I can only hope thatUniversity of South Florida has advisors that want to do their job.1114: My contact with advising services have all been positive and have gone smoothly. I amhappy to see that the employees located outside the advisors' offices have enoughauthority to handle simple requests. This reduces the chance of a possible wait to seeone of the advisors.1116: For some first year freshmans it's hard to adjust to the college life and the way in whichit's ran. I had difficulty in planning my schedule, and when I had any questions or felt Ineeded help in planning the front desk kept telling me that an advisor wouldn't be able todo that and to go back online and do it.1122: have more informed advisors about the transferr process and know what you need andwhat will not transferr to usf1123: None at this time1128: Get extra help or find a better way to schedule so the advisors don't have a too heavywork load but the students will still get as much time as they may need with the advisor.Having to wait in a long line to simply sign in is a bit much. There should be a secretaryfor sign ins and assigning students to professors.1168: nothing1171: more advisors. especially in plant city1174: There is a need for more advisors with accurate information and straight foward answers.1185: Have more advisors.1193: At the brandon campus they rushed me1211: More patient1212: nothing1225: More time with students, and make sure all student's questions are answered.1227: When I originally re-applied after being out of school for 9 years I got to meet with anadvisor. At that particular time nothing was mentioned to me about needing to retake theCPT test for reading and comprehension. I was not aware nor did they make me awarethat after 2 years if you havent started in a respective English class that you have to retakethe CPT. This was not discovered until I was signing up for my 2nd semester ofclasses and it stated I had not met my minimum requirements. I didnt know what hadhappen until after numerous phone calls and a rush option of taking these two tests. I had6 months prior I could have done this but now had to complete it in 2 days.1238: I am currently finishing my final semmester at HCC and I meet with an HCC advisor, who wasn't very helpful. I drove to USF the following day to meet with a USF advisorand she was so helpful and encouraging.1249: They didn't know my prerequisits to become a physical therapist, I had to call aphysically therapy school to find out the classes I needed to take at HCC.1263: The wait in line1272: Have more advisors helping with students questions, and do anything they could possiblydo to help.1286: on 2 different occasions [a staff member] in advising gave me classes i did not needtowards my degree and i wasted time and money taking them!!1288: hire better workers who know what their talking aboutStudent Satisfaction Survey 2007 – Q15: Advising – Page 105
