333: Go into more detail about classes. Online class. Financial aid.366: don't send students that already have a degree. I know that I am college prep already.396: They could liven it up a little bit. It dragged out and after a while you begin to space.407: When i had a orientation not everything was given to us that i thought was needed.412: Answer all question and explain things more fully.415: Personally for me, it was a bit overwhelming. The packets we recieved had informationthat was daunting for a freshman and a student straight out of high school. Not that theorientation should baby us and make the process all about ease, I believe that theorientation should be understanding for the new students.418: Nothing; Dr. Lyons is execellent at her job.422: i liked how they showed you what classes to sign up for and how to do everything onlinestep by step . it really helped me out alot. Maybe they could do a tour of the school .Even though the campus isn't huge or anything it would be nice to know whereeverything is at.424: Nothing, it was great.433: I would make sure that it's not too long and spend time answering questions. Theinformation could be handed out so that students can read it. We don't need to listen tosomeone read something to us. (I don't mean that in a negative way).439: NOTHiNG449: Make it more interesting.455: Give more advice or help to students just starting college463: I do not remember my orientation, it was 6 years ago.474: They should assit better in telling you what classes are desgined for your major/degreeand which ones will be transferable to other universities.477: Give more information to students who need to take prep classes480: Focus on issues that are important to all students (i.e., how to register, using HawkNet,WebCT, etc.) and shorten the orientation period. It seemed that most of the orientationwas taken with discussion of how individual student issues, such as how a student's grantprograms would apply. It seemed a waste of time to have to attend a 2 hour orientationfor approximately 30 minutes worth of useful information. For lack of a better plan, limitorientation topics to general topics, and refer students with specific situation questions toan advisor.485: Make it more interesting, possibly one on one, the fast pace confused a lot of students andthey gave up on trying to follow what the instructor was presenting.495: Give students useful information. I felt that the orientation was a complete waste of mytime. Everything that was said could easily be found on the paperwork given at time ofadmission, or the student handbook.497: I thought it ran pretty smoothly. The person who ran it did a good job.521: I was a transfer student, so I already knew what steps I needed to be successful. Theydidnt even try to give me a chance to do it on my own. I'm not an 18 year old kid straightfrom high school.539: Completed orientation on-line- I was a transfer student543: Transfering possibilities. The Start of picking Classes.577: Have someone there who knows what they are talking about..578: Nothing.602: Have more advisors available, also present in paper the different degrees available.Student Satisfaction Survey 2007 – Q6: New Student Orientation – Page 55
