Make sure that the new advisors have adequatetraining on the specialty programs that HCC offers. As far as the appointments go it’s agreat idea, but maybe you should assign one advisor or two that would handle seeing theappointments for the day.9: After making an appointment with advising during the summer registration, I still waitedan hour. They give me conflicting information. I asked specific advice on the classes ishould take and they wouldn't offer a suggestion. I find it unreasonable that they couldn'tchange my major and that I couldn't do it online. In theis technology age, it seems likethere could be an easy solution to bypass waiting in the line downstairs. Because of thatline, my classes are all registeered under my maiden name (changed 2 years ago) and mymajor is incorrcet.10: the adviser need to know what they are doing, i took a class in summer <strong>2007</strong> that i didntneed and that was money out of my pocket, and the amount of time you have to wait19: Hire more help, be more personal, follow up, Make sure that the information they aregiving to the students is up to date instead of wasting everyones time27: More staff members present during the registering period. And maybe a list of classesavailable for students on what they need to take on their choice of program.28: Really know what the student is majorinfg and informed if there are ways the student canadvance and not waste his/her time.33: I was originally enrolled by registartion in the wrong program. I was not informed theprogram I applied for was no longer available. This happened several weeks afterstarting class.35: getting more advisors to much time waiting37: shorten the wait times of higher traffic. Certainly there is a pattern in regards to timeswhen greater numbers of students are seeking counsel.38: Phones are also an issue with this dept. The amount of time it takes to see an advisor isrediculous. I think the hours need to be changed. They should be open till 7 everyday.39: These pleople should know what they are doing there, the answers i got when i wasquestioning wrong scores on my transcripts, the lady told me that i do not have to worryabout them!!!! They were not mine. I took my exit exams in May, but the scores fromthese tests were from November, and she is telling me that i took them and i should notworry about them! This is not acceptable. Another incident that made me very upset waswhen i came for the first time to make my schedule. This man, before he was one of thedeans, told me that with my low scores, i will not be able to go too far in HCC or anyother college. How dare he could say that?. At that time i was lost and very shy to evenquestion him, but today i feel more confident to tell you Mrs. Stephenson that people likethis do not have any authority to put anyone down( and this is only two out of few more)43: some people dont want to wait in the 2 hour line for the advisors help so they dont end upgetting any help49: Provide better training for the new advisors and lower the requirements to be an advisor,so that advisors do not leave after one or two years to become counselors of professors.50: The advising staff seems to be extremely overburdened by the volume of studentsseeking assistance. This may be why they don't seem to care when they finally meet withthe students.
