1224: replace crummy teacher1229: why do we have to take prep. courses.1234: We really nedd better nursing instructors. I am finishing my second semester ofnursing, and have yet to have a classroom teacher in nursing who does more thanread from the book or publisher provided powerpoint. It stinks that I am paying$1000 per semester to be read to when I am fully capable of reading my booksmyself. I would like a teacher that teaches!! My psych nursing instructor, scottiefingar, was wonderful - she actually teaches, and my clinical instructors have allbeen great at actually teaching, but my nursing classroom instructors have beenterrible. I am very disappointed in that portion of my program.1236: nothing1244: Offer more classes, more times for classes and more classes during the summer. Iwould definitely attend HCC for a four year degree if we could get accredidationlike St. Pete College.1246: Do not delay my education be preventing me from taking college courses, byrequiring college prep first. I should be allowed to take some courses without theprep courses prerequsite.1252: nothing1253: Better teachers1255: Offer sign language classes more than one time a year as well as betterscheduling. If students have a long drive (I drive 65 minutes each way) its almostnot worth it for there to only be one class a day each day of the week. Also if ateacher cancels class it was a COMPLETE WASTED TRIP!!1264: Nothing.1275: All those prep classes that most students have to take are ridiculous. I didn't needto take half of them and it was a complete waste of time and what little money Ido have. It is very defeatest for a student trying to get done with school because itgives the illusion that you are taking all these classes but are getting nowhere. They don't count for anything and since the students at HCC are adults by law, they should have the ability to decide for themselves whether they need the class.Otherwise, its just a way for the school to get money.1283: Provide more higher level courses to be transferred to senior institutions.1295: Better material. Example: The chemistry book that is being used for CHM-1025 isthe most horrible textbook I've ever had to purchase. It is completely Noninformativeand is more confusing than anything. The print quality is horrible andthe examples????? Nuff said! I cannot believe that such a book was even allowedto be published, let alone be the basis of our material for learning chemistry.1298: there should be a vast variety of teachers with different teaching methods tochoose from for most subjects1302: be proactive1311: I'm not sure what the answer to the problem is but, the nursing program is reallyconfusing. Maybe the text book?? Lewis.1355: Make more options to the student body.1356: teachers who cancel class more than 4 times in a month w/o an emergency shouldbe overlooked... [name of faculty member]1370: Get better teachers, have a better attitudeStudent Satisfaction Survey 2007 – Q74: Publications and Communications – Page 487
