1314: Nothing, I understand that there are a lot of students at HCC so there will be a wait to seean advisor, especially at a walk-in. Maybe have appointment times available as well.1322: I am very pleased with the services.1330: Instead of giving a sheet of paper listing the classes mandatory for a AA, actually go overwhat material will be taught so students know which sounds best.1343: it would help if each student was assinged a particular advisor so that each time you goyou speak with the same person this would help to assure you get the help you need andconsistant information.1344: The time it takes to speak to an advisor is about an hour.1347: Instead of just pointing and telling you what you have to do. I would perfer them toexplain every process step by step, even if it has to do with enrolling or entering aprogram. Students get very frustrated when they are misinformed or even misunderstanda certain process. More explanation.1349: make things faster1359: no comment1362: A set appointment time to meet with an advisor and a set time for walk-ins1377: Add more advisors.1385: theyre great1402: Educate them so they dont give out false info.1439: more advisors1445: It' fine.1454: Sensitivity training might be a good start for some of them. I was advised that I would"NEVER get into the RN program." What kind of advice is that?! My core GPA is 2.985- not terrible, but they acted like it was. I was going to school to improve my life, and yetwhen I left there I felt like I had no options available to me. I now realize that the advisorwas wrong - and shouldn't be advising anyone!1455: Not sure.1456: I have been in to see an advisor every semester to make sure i am on track to transfer toUSF. Just this last semester i was informed that in order for me to transfer to USF i'dhave to take an additional 5 classes. I took an intro to Finance class which does not helpme with the transfer to USF, to me this was a waste and the advisor never said anythingto me. I would have appreciated them setting me on the correct class course to not wastemy time, money and efforts. I need 3 classes to graduate from HCC but still have to take5 more classes before i can transfer. This is a clear example of poor advising.1461: Make sure they know about every class1462: n/a1466: Have more advisers available for students on the registration weeks...1469: Hire more advisors! The process feels like visiting an HMO, where they need to see thenext patient in no more than 15 minutes. Half the questions I wanted to ask didn't occurto me until after the session because I felt the time pressure also...and it made menervous.1472: have more advisors so the student to advisor ratio is a bit smaller and i can talk to anadvisor in a more timely manor1502: make sure that the student understands fully what he/she needs to take in order tocomplete the rigistering process. a new student does not know what to ask for or about,so a little help from them would be really be helpful.Student Satisfaction Survey 2007 – Q15: Advising – Page 106
