95: Why do I have to wait 1-3 hours to see an advisor when I have an appointment in theearly AM? Decrease wait times. Persons with appointments should be seen within 15minutes of their appointment time. Having an appointment for 9am and leaving at noonafter only 20 minutes with an advisor is unacceptable - especially when it's mid-semester.Front desk staff at the advising office responded to my request about how many advisorswere in the office with "they usually get in between 8 and 10." Staff should have a setschedule and be held accountable for tardiness. Staff can be seen standing around doingnothing, which adds to the frustration of waiting. If staff are not doing anything and thewaiting area is full, they should not be in view goofing off or talking on their cell phonesabout where they are going that weekend. I heard one student complain about the waitand she was told "all colleges are like this," which is not accurate as HCC is my 4thhigher education al institution and by far the least efficient in terms of customer service. My wait to see an advisor at USF in September was 10 minutes. I've had two differentadvisors give contradictory information and advice regarding courses needed forgraduation. Both were wrong according to my "progress towards degree requirements"in HCCAdvisor. Also, the same two advisors claimed a course taken at FSU wouldtransfer as X and it transferred as Y. As the same mistake was made my two advisors, Iview this as lack of training and/or incompetence.100: Accurate information. I spent most of my 2 1/2 years terrified because of wronginformation that after meeting with advisors at USF found to be wrong. My schoolexperience would have been so much better if the information I was given was accurateto my transfer to USF.105: It's okay123: Hire people who know the answers or help you get them not guessing and giving you badadvice. Have an answer for people who went to college and have credits that cantransfer.124: Expansion of office hours for people that work full time during the day. Make sure thatall the advisors are provided the same information and have a core understanding of it.You can get a different answer at each campus.127: keep the advisers and increase training. My advisor left and I received a new one. Thenew advisor told me of additional course I would need to graduate. The pervisous advisornever told me of the other requirements. I tested out of a computer course that I needed, but the advisor never told me that I need to get the disk from the school store, and that thetest was only completed on certain days at certain times. I took off of work for two daysto find this out.131: faster service140: they seemed to be in a rush.. as a deaf student.. trying to understand the whole process...she acted as she didnt care.. handed me a paper told me to choose. have a nice day.141: Set realistic timeframes and guidelines / i'm tired of opinions ,misinformation, and flat outlies. We need to have online advisement that WORKS. there needs to be more interactionthru internet email exchange146: Have more counselors available. Shouldn't have to wait an hour to see someone.147: The only thing I would comment on is the advisor had told me not to do the orientationalthough I was a returning student, it had been 20 years since I was there, so I think everyreturning student should still go through oreintation, because procedures and campus infochanges as time goes on. I felt by going ahead and doing the orietation help me.Student Satisfaction Survey 2007 – Q15: Advising – Page 111
