516: NICER staff PLEASE. Never in my life have I received such rude, demeaning service asI have in the FA office. The staff is nasty, disrespectful and mean. I understand that theFA staff has a lot to take on, however I avoid the FA office if at all possible.536: I found that some of the financial aid staff are unhelpful. They do not answer questionsthoroughly, the staff are not on the same page, and because the student to staff ratio is sooverwhelming the staff is just rushing through the students to get to the next. However,Mrs. Digna was a huge help to my mom and I when the staff was giving me the runaround. She was great!540: Better phone contact.541: The people in the financial aid department did nothing to help me find other souses offinancial aid besides the pell grant. They didn't even discuss what a pell grant was. Iwaited forever to see someone that spent two seconds with me and we barely spoke.Perhaps if they had been a little more helpful, I wouldn't still be searching for other formsof financial aid.549: All the employees at the HCC Financial Aid office are completely imcompetent. Theywill give you different information, depending on who you talk to. They are rude, short,impatient, and unhelpful. I had to talk with Mrs. Charlotte Johns-Rich, the director ofFinancial Aid, before anyone was able to successfully help me. Most of the time, theyare greatly misinformed and unable to directly help with the situation, and often timesmake it worse. If you want a successful Financial Aid office, I suggest you rid yourself ofthe employees you have, and hire ones who are willing and able to do the job with at bareminimum a smile.552: perhaps help me understand and utilize the work study program554: Ensure that when a student goes to their office they advise the student of all the info thestudent needs to obtain or the actions the student must take. I have experienced for thelast five years that everytime I go to financial aid, I am not given all the actions or infothat I have to do or obtain. It creates more unnecessary trips to the financial aid office.560: The FA process at HCC is very unorganized. I received a letter stating that all myinformation was not received and I had to make an appointment and wait for and hourand a half to find out that it was sent in error. I was not asked any questions about mysituation or given any advice on how to get additional financial help.562: I appy for aid on line, biut when I have a question their department never anwers thephone and whenu go there personally its a bother to them. Some of them are very rude.569: More Staff! I have applied for financial aid every year and I have to say that process hasimproved. I hope it continues!570: The staff could act like they enjoy their job at least a little. They act like someone justdied all the time.571: I had to appeal my financial aid this semester and I started the process on August 28 andit got resolved November 9th. I called and left numerous message and 4 with themanager and never got a return call, I went to the office and was told dont keep comingback just call us and I left email that were never returned and this is all after I was toldwould get a call back telling me what was going on. I had to resort to the dean of studentservices.
