132: get involved with the student many give up bacause of minor issues135: The wait time is horrible. There should be more advisors working during high peak times. Also the wait would not be so bad if the rep sitting at the front desk was not so rude.139: Give the staff acess to answer some questions on line and not have to come in to talk tosomeone for every little thing.149: Maybe if the advisors were more proactive. I applied for graduation and didn't ever hearanything. I then found out on my own that I missed the deadline to apply for the CLASTand to take a placement test for a computer course requirement. Maybe if whoever getsthose applications could review the students info and mail something out advising of nextsteps.155: When asking about particular degree programs and transfer programs they just referredme to the school I wanted to transfer to instead of helping. Then I got the same from theother college.173: Make sure that all the advisers tell you the same thing. I could go meet with someoneone day and hear that I'm supposed to do something then meet with someone else thenext day and here that what I did was wrong and I need to do something else.180: NOTHING192: Better Counseling, I was given incorrect information by 2 counselors at HCC thesemester prior to graduation and Luckily after visiting advisingf office 3 times I was ableto obtain correct information.194: HCC can have more advisors avaliable to see and maybe one sitting at the front counteras we come into the door after visiting with the registration desk.195: i think the only way is to get prefessional people.197: Im not sure.199: they could lose their attitudes and once again care about their students!204: As stated the info given is not accurate or unnecessary. A different advisor each time andvery rude workers at the front desk of the advisors office. As if they are doing me afavor?208: HCC could have staff available. This semester I had attempted 2 times to see andadvisor, each wait being longer than 1 1/2 hrs., a longer amount of time than I hadavailable. Being a working student, late afternoon hours are compatible with my workschedule, however, to see an advisor on thier scheduled late nights, Monday andTuesday, the wait is 2 hours long and the office stops seeing students around 5pm. this isschedule is not compatible with my work schedule.211: Most of the time I find it very difficult to speak with someone other than the person at thefront desk. When they can't help, they go to the advisors office, ask a question and comeback, instead of letting you speak to the advisor.215: Better communication between advisor and student. Explain to students.227: Give the student a more realistic expectation of their future at HCC. I mean make surethat the courses they outline are truly the one's needed by the student to graduate.244: advising staff needs to be more attentive with students and what their goals are. one ofthe biggest reason i no longer go to the advising staff is because they rush me through myquestions and I have gotten three different answers by different advisors when asked thesame question.253: I just would like to see an advisor without having to sit there and wait for sometimes twohours.Student Satisfaction Survey 2007 – Q15: Advising – Page 99
