Q15: WHAT COULD HCC DO TO IMPROVE ITS ADVISING SERVICES?CAMPUS = BRANDON7: WAIT TIME TOO LONG.20: With 10 or more offices in the advising center there should be 10 or more advisors fillingthem. Only 2 advisors? That is ridiculous.21: I love how the honors institiute has theres and we all get to seat down with Mrs.Grinstead for at least an hour and figure everything out and she is always willing to workwith you no matter what!31: Like I said before, there just seems to be a lot of confusion about graduationrequirements. I have had way too many friends stay at HCC for four years because theykept finding out about classes that they needed to take32: they needed to be more specific, I feel the advisors are very vague, about the classes youneed to take.45: They should have more UPDATED information.53: The Advisors are extremely helpful, but getting through the screening process at the frontcounter is not pleasant. For instance, I called because I was trying to get into IDS 2110,because that is the last class I need to graduate. Unfortunately, this class has aprerequisite of 45 credits completed prior to registration. I would not have 45 creditscomplete until the end of the Fall Semester. However, at that time I would have 59credits. I was told on the phone that if I came in to see an advisor that I would be allowedinto the class because it was the only one I needed and there we filling up fast. However, when I arrived I was told at the front desk that I was misinformed. I insisted I see anadvisor, and sure enough, I was permitted into the class. I just this that this wholesituation could have been avoided if everyone in the office was on the same page.60: You could have more advisors available.63: Lauren Grinstead is my academic advisor with the Honors Institute. She does andawesome job! I have not used any advising services except for hers.74: be more prepared. the advisors i have met with have given me very little info that ineeded, i usually left more confused then before, and they never really answeredquestions i had asked, they could deff use more training86: Wait time is to long.90: if they could be a bit more helpful more understanding it just seems like they go so fast118: EFFICIENCY AND ACCOUNTABILITY is where I would start. The first time I had tomeet with an advisor it was an hour wait. Not because of a large amount of students, butbecause no one was doing anything. The gentleman I met with never introduced himself, only complained that he had to be there. Then, he puts his shoes on his desk, and makesit very clear he is trying to rush me out of there. PLUS, I applied for graduation inAugust and today (November 9th) I STILL HAVEN'T HEARD ANYTHING? Like therest of the services, there is no accountability. No one cares, they are worse thanbeauracracy. Why I bother to type this I do not know. Nothing will change. I will benotifying someone at the state level to let them know how this school wastes money.120: more information on graduation, also help make the student feel more welcomeinstead of answering questions with an almost indifferent attitude and rushing throughexplanations.125: i like what the advisors tell me. they are very helpful once you get in to see one.Student Satisfaction Survey 2007 – Q15: Advising – Page 98
