the financial aid office for help and all they told me was that it was my respinsibility andto start filling it out. which is unfair when i used to revieve the papers.132: they can do better135: The reps need to be more professional and knowledgeable. Out of the 5 people workingin the office, it seems like only 1 person knows anything and the other 4 have toconstantly put everyone on hold to get answers from the one person. Also wait time ishorrible. Another thing is I don't think it's right that they discuss private financial aidadvice with students out in the open in front of everyone.149: Again be more proactive. I got my notice of scholarship after the semester started, so Iwas working additional hours and struggling to get my school work done to pay mytuition to find out I got a scholarship. I then applied for loans at the begining of thiscurrent sememster and still haven't received any notification if I was approved for anyloans or not. It seems as though each student has to do everything on their own and thenwait for a while in the financial aid office to find out you missed a deadline or didn't turnin a form.180: HAVE MORE INFORMATION/KNOWLEDGE ON THE AID THAT IS OUT THERE194: During my visit at the fincial aid office, I heard students complaining that they werereceiving different information from different employees, so I would have to say "if thatstrue, that maybe financial aid employees should all use the same resources to answer anyrequest of information being provided when using face to face communication wise".197: Im not sure.204: I had to take only one class this semester and pay out of pocket due to the horrible job finaid did. having only taken one class, my entire plan for complation has been skewed. ihad to have the Dean of student get involved just to take even one class, and he tookseveral days of back and forth to understand what was happening. If i only took one classinstead of 4 that's 3 full classes and books the you did not recieve money for...very badbusiness .208: This is my second year at HCC and also has been my worst experience with FinancialAide. I received duplicate letters asking for my signature. Months after the paperworkwas completed and signed, I still received the same duplicate form letter. I also receivednumerous award letters each stating different amounts of financial awards. When Iquestioned the reason(s) for the change in amount, financial aide officers had differentresponses. One person said I was awarded a scholarship, the manager said I did notqualify for the scholarship. A third representative said I was being granted thescholarship. Three different people, three different responses. Then, I received 2 letterseach giving a different date for fund dispersment. I had to petition the financial aideoffice to release a portion of my funds in order to purchase textbooks. It was oneproblem after another, after another this year. To add to my frustration, I completed myportion of Financial Aide ea rly and still, the FA office could not perform.211: The one time I was in financial aid about the Dream Keepers scholarship, they did notwant to give me information, just redirect me to the Deans office.215: Once again, people who truly wish to help students, and not give them a hard time or anattitude evertime that student is present at their office (Dale Mabry). Also to presentstudenst information in a timely manner instead of at the last minute, 2 weeks beforeschool starts.227: Let the student know in advance of their eligibility.Student Satisfaction Survey 2007 – Q20: Financial Aid – Page 155
