252: make it more timely efficient. Try to lower the waiting times, and enable appointmentmaking!! ive been told EVERY time i go there that i cant make an appointment.256: The counselors need to know more about prerequisites, and more about Further educationplans... ex: What you have to do to get into USF or UF...258: make sure everybody is telling the students the corect information instead of varyingfrom advisor to advisor265: See question one270: Have more advisors on hand, or book appointments. I work, and cannot afford to waitfor an hour and a half. There was thirty-one students ahead of me.280: Have people available to answer the phone. When I call I am on hold for over 30minutes waiting for someone to answer.285: no suggestions at this time287: Neutral310: Honestly this is probably your best group.318: waiting time maybe get a few more so that it would not take so long319: Make more advisors available during peak times.322: some advisors tell em different things eeverytime i go. for example, one time i went andsaw a different dvisor than my first one adn she said thats wrong who told you that?336: THEY NEED TO GIVE STUDENTS MORE ACCURATE INFORMATION. STOPMAKING US TAKE CLASSES THAT DOES NOT PERTAIN TO OUR DEGREE.ALL IN ALL, THEY JUST NEED TO BE MORE HELPFUL. IT WONT HURT TOACTUALLY DO YOUR JOB THE RIGHT WAY!338: The advisors should be more personable and more versatile when counseling students. Some advisors are good but others are not. For instance, the advisor that I visit, does notseem to be knowledgable about the transition process to the university level for certainmajors and programs. The advisors should have more training for this issue. There areother problems i have encountered that I cant seem to remember at this time but overallthe advising offoce has been both helpful and unhelpful.339: Make sure the information on degrees is presenting is up to date and there are noconfusing typos in manual.342: Have people that are more knowledgable about specific programs, not necessarily justabout gen ed classes.347: The waiting time is ridiculous. People should not have to wait 2-3 hours to see anadvisor. I consider it an abuse of other people's time. (lack of respect for the studentstime)349: It would be nice if a student had the same advisor every time.353: I wish my advisor would have taken more time to understand my future goals andrecommend better classes to reach them.356: Less wait time358: The advisors need to know what the proper courses are for each degree. I have knownnumerous people who have met with advisors and they were advised to take classes thatdid not pertain to their degree. For those students who pay out of pocket, this becomesvery costly.360: I know that there will always be a rush near the beginning of semesters but i think thatthere is something that HCC can do to improve waiting time. Most instructors could becapable of helping most students find what classes they need. I think that HCC could useStudent Satisfaction Survey 2007 – Q15: Advising – Page 113
