906 The site accepts the following materials: glass, textiles & clothing, paper, cardboard, plastics, aluminium & steel, cans, wood, brown goods (typically furniture), white goods (refrigerators, freezers, washing machines etc), rubble & steel (small quantities), household electrical & IT goods (TVs computers etc), bulky wastes (mattresses, household DIY waste) and household hazardous waste (bleach, paint, fluorescent tubes, etc). The Monitoring Committee is required to consider and take a position on all recommendations made in the evaluation (It does not, of course, have to accept the recommendations). The Managing Authority is required to report back to the committee on progress made in implementing agreed recommendations. 1117 The Waste Management Infrastructure Capital Grants Scheme, which was launched in 2002 and under which over €100m was allocated in grant assistance to local authorities, closed to new applications in 2008. This scheme assisted in the development of the current nationwide network of almost 2,000 bring banks and more than 80 civic amenity sites. 60.2.3 Waste Recycling Capital Grant Scheme In July 2008, with the Waste Management Infrastructure Capital Grants Schemehaving closed, the Waste Recycling Capital Grant Scheme was launched with the aim of providing assistance in meeting the Landfill Directive diversion targets. Under this scheme grant funding of up to 85% is available towards projects designed to increase the biological treatment of waste. previously been available for such projects. In 2008, €24 million was made available to local authorities under the scheme. 60.2.4 The Environment Fund In addition to the position that exists for waste infrastructure development within NDP planning, the regulatory mechanism of the Environment Fund exists as a source of funding for waste management measures. Provision for the creation of the Environment Fund was made through the Waste Management (Amendment) Act 2001. Section 12 of the 2001 Act makes amendments to the Waste Management Act 1996 through providing for the insertion of Section 74 into the 1996 Act. The Environment Fund comprises revenues from the landfill levy and the plastic bag levy, although there is potential for money to be contributed to the fund from the exchequer - if or when agreement is made with the Minister for Finance.
