If a cardholder’s Navy Cash card is lost, stolen, or damaged, he or she must report tothe Disbursing Officer so the status of the old card can be reported appropriately and areplacement permanent Navy Cash card can be requested. Prior to requesting a replacement card,the Disbursing Officer must update the card status in accordance with paragraph 8.4.16, ChangeCard Status.b. When requesting a replacement card, either a temporary or a visitor Navy Cash cardcan be assigned to the cardholder to use until the new permanent card is delivered to the ship.(1) Temporary Navy Cash cards, on the one hand, are relatively expensive, becausethey are only used for a short time. Once issued, they must be cancelled and destroyed before thereplacement permanent card can be activated. When deployed away from homeport for anextended period, delivery of replacement permanent Navy Cash cards can take several weeks.Temporary cards ensure individuals have immediate access to all Navy Cash capabilities, forexample, transferring funds on the ship to the chip or Navy Cash (strip) account from bank orcredit union account ashore and accessing funds in the strip account at ATMs ashore. Duringextended deployments, the Disbursing Officer can request replacement cards and assigntemporary Navy Cash cards whenever it is considered necessary.(2) Visitor Navy Cash cards, on the other hand, are reusable.
