Appendix CHow to Set Up <strong>Navy</strong> <strong>Cash</strong> and ROM IIC.1 PRE-INSTALLATION STEPSThe installations of the <strong>Navy</strong> <strong>Cash</strong> and ROM II software must follow certain guidelines toensure success. Before beginning the software installation, the cash register computer on whichthe ROM II / <strong>Navy</strong> <strong>Cash</strong> system will be installed must have the follow options loaded andconfigured.a. The system must run Windows NT 4.0 with Service Pack 6 loaded.b. The system must have a working Network Interface Card (NIC) installed. The NICmust have all drivers loaded and must also be configured for the correct IP Address.c. The computer must have three working COM ports. Normally, ROM II cash registersnormally come with only two COM ports installed. A COM port extender card should beinstalled to ensure the computer has three working COM ports.d. The COM ports must be properly configured. To configure the COM ports go to Start> Settings > Control Panel and select Ports. For each COM port under Ports (COM 1, COM 2,and COM 3) set to the following settings:Baud Rate: 9600Data Bits: 8Parity: NoneStop Bits: 1Flow Control: Nonee. The COM port memory locations (DMA and IRQ settings) must not overlap. Toaccess the memory settings, click on the Advanced button under the Settings for each COM port.C.2 INSTALLATIONOnce the pre-installation steps are completed, the following steps must be performed to fullyinstall the ROM II and <strong>Navy</strong> <strong>Cash</strong> systems on the ROM II cash register computer.a. Install the ROM II system. Follow the installation guidelines for the ROM II system.b. Copy the <strong>Navy</strong> <strong>Cash</strong> Proxy application onto the machine. Normally, this should beinstalled in the following location: “C:\Program Files\<strong>Navy</strong> <strong>Cash</strong>”.c. Create a shortcut in the Startup menu to point to the <strong>Navy</strong> <strong>Cash</strong> Proxy application. Toaccess the startup menu, navigate to “c:\winnt\Profiles\All Users\Start Menu\Programs\Startup”and install the shortcut there. To create a shortcut, click on File > New > Shortcut and follow thedirections.d. Once the <strong>Navy</strong> <strong>Cash</strong> Proxy application and associated shortcut are installed, doubleclick on the shortcut to start the application.
