AIM OF REVIEW<br />

This review aims to explore the definitions <strong>of</strong> Inter-Pr<strong>of</strong>essional e-<br />

Learning (IPeL) and examine the meaning <strong>of</strong> the term Reusable<br />

Learning Object (RLO). With a major shift into web based<br />

technologies and an increasing focus on learning being interactive,<br />

accessible via the Internet and flexible in both time and space.<br />

Consideration is given to how both concepts can be achieved within<br />

an interactive media-rich Virtual Learning Environment [VLE].<br />

SEARCH AND REVIEW METHODOLOGY<br />

An initial part <strong>of</strong> the search strategy has been to consult with<br />

experts in this field at Coventry University within the Centre for<br />

Inter-Pr<strong>of</strong>essional e-Learning. Further to this an electronic literature<br />

search <strong>of</strong> the major electronic databases is in progress. A<br />

comprehensive list <strong>of</strong> key terms was developed for use in searching<br />

the databases such as;<br />

ANALYSIS<br />

Inter pr<strong>of</strong>essional learning is not a new initiative. Numerous<br />

government policy documents such as A Health Service for all the<br />

Talents: Developing the NHS Workforce (DoH, 2000), The NHS Plan<br />

(DoH, 2001) and The Expert Patient (DoH, 2002) advocate inter<br />

pr<strong>of</strong>essional learning and the need for education and training which<br />
