From the court of law an appeal lies to the chancery. Over the prefedu rates
here prelide four judges and fix amtmen, who are fubordinate to a ianddrofl,
or rural-chief-juftice.
§. 10. The county of Waldeck is thought to bring in above loo.ooo
ruthlr. per annum to the Prince, and that not improbably, it being one of
the moll: confiderable counties in the whole Empire,
and preferable even to
not a few of the principalities. The Prince's circular contingency is two

1 1. To the county of Waldeck belong
I. The following towns in their order, viz.
Corbach, the capital of the country, and the firft of the three deputytowns.
It is alfo the feat of the high court of juftice, and confiils of the
old and new town, each of which has its church. In that belonging to the
new town is a moft llately monument of marble and alabafter which takes
up one fide of the choir,
and was eredled by the republic of the United Provinces
to Prince George Frederick of IVa/deck,
who was field-marfhal of their
forces. In the new town is alfo a. gymnq/ium of fix claffes and feven mafters.
Lower Wildungen, a town {landing on a hill, and the fecond deputytown,
being both larger and better built than Old-Wildiingen. In it is a Latin
fchool containing five clafles, as alfo an orphan-houfe. In the choir belonging
to its church, the republic of Venice has eredled a fine alabafter monument
to the memory of Jojias,
Prince of Waldeck, who commanded their
armies vi'ith great reputation.
In its neighbourhood are fome mineral brunns or fprings, as namely, the
Stadt-brunn, the Thalbrunn, and thofe of Reizenhagen and Reinerß^aujen.
Mengeringhaufen, the third of the deputy-towns, lies on a fmall river
which runs into the Tiviße, and not far from it is a well provided hofpital of
Leibern.
Sachfenhaufen,
a little town.
Rhoden, a fmall town ftanding on an eminence, with a feat of the Prince's:
About one quarter of an hour north of it ftands the chapel of Old-Rhoden,
containing in it a Gottos-acker, or burial-place for the town.
Sachfenberg, a little town.

Freienhagen, a fmall town, having formerly a free court ofjuftice erefted
by Charles the Great, and conferred as a fief by the Emperors Wencejlaus
and Sigifmund on a family o^ Corbach, in quality of free counts.
Waldeck, a little town feated on a hill and feparated by a valley from a
rock, on which ftands the old caftle of Waldeck, which has lately been fitted
