In the mean time the Eleclor of Metitz., by virtue of that part of the
nominal county of Konigßein, of which he poffelTcd himfelf, votes in the
Diet of the Upper-Rhine, as alfo does the houfe of Stolherg for the fmall part
remaining to it. Both are likewife members of the college of the Imperial
IVetterau counts ; but the Eledor of Mentz. has feparated himfelf from it.
Of the alTcfTment for Konigßeiti, in the matricula of the Empire, Mentz.
pays eighty florins and Stolberg twenty. The contingency of Mentz towards
the chamber at Wetzlar, is included among the general fums payable by
that Eledor, but that of Stolberg is difcontinued.
The Eledlor of Mentz's part confifts of the upper prefedlurate of Konigßein,
in which is
Konigßein, a fmall open town and a demefne : but its caftle, which
ftands on a high rock, is a fief of the Empire.
Upper-VrfeU a little town and a demefne, which, in the year 1625,
fufiered greatly by fire. Near it is the Kreiizkcopelle, or Chapel of the
Crofs, to which, on the days of the invention and exaltation of the crofs,
crowds of pilgrims refort.
The Kellerey of Neiienhayn, the places of which were, on the death of
Count Cbrißophcr of Stolberg, feized by the Elector-palatine as adminiftrator
of the convent of Limpurg ; but, in the year 1650, he ceded them to
Mentz.
Neiie7ihayn, a parochial-village.
Sulzbach and Soden, free Imperial villages, in which the Ele(Sor of Mentz
and the Imperial city of Frankfort, jointly appoint the chief magiflrates.
The
laft of thefe has fome falt-pits and a medicinal bath.
The Kellerey of Vilbel, which is held in common with that of Hanau.
The little town ofthat name lies on the river Nid.
The Kellerey of Epßein, to which belongs one half of the town and
caflle of Epftehi and the other half to Hejfe-Dartnjladt. The caflle in it is
a fief belonging to Mentz, but the town is a demefne.
The Kellery of Rockenberg lies along the Wetter. In it is
Rockenberg, or Rockenburg, a parochial-village and caftle, fituate in a
rocky territory on the Wetter, and a demefne. Near it ftands Marie?iJchlofz,
a nunnery of Ciflercians.
The Stolberg part of the county of Konigßein is divided betwixt two
houfes.
1. The princely houfe oi Stolberg-Gciidern pofTeffes.
Geldern, or Gedern, a town which is the Prince's refidence.
Ranfiatt, a town, together with the villages of Volkerß.^eitn and VJenborn.
2. To the count of Stolberg-tioßa belong
Two thirds of the town and caftle of Ordenburg.
