Herrniverth or Herrn Chiemfee,
anciently fituated on the Au, or Pfaffen-
•werth, a priory of regular canons of the order of St. Augußine, ftanding on
an ifland in the CJjiemfee. In the year 121^ Eberhard II. archbifhop of
Salzburg founded a biftiopric at this place without prejudice to the priory,
none of its lands being given to it. Its prelate is nominated, confirmed,
and confecrated by the archbifliop of Salzburg, who alfo adminifters the
oath of fidelity to him. In 1218 the Emperor alfo granted him the honcur
and freedom of the Empire.
Frauenivcrth, or Frauen Chiemjee., an abbey of Benedidiine Nuns, feated
alfo on an ifland in the Chiemfee.
Seon, an abbey of BenediSfine Monks, ftanding in a fmall lake.
