§. I. 'T~^HE beft view of it is taken in the third le^f of Homam's map of
' the dominions of Heße-Darmßadt and the lands adjacent. This
lordfliip lies in the Weßerivald^, betwixt Montabaur, a prefedurate of the
Eleftor of Triers and the territories of Naßau, being about two hours in
circumference.
§.2. In it are fine paftures and confequently exxellent fheep and horned
cattle. It produces alio rye, barley, oats and pulfe, with plenty of very
fine earth-nuts, as alfo all kinds of fruits. The woods here are thinned,
but it has a remarkable mine of wood-coal, which fufiices of itfelf to furnifli
the neighbourhood with fuel. The colour, filaments and twigs of the
coal manifelt it tobe real wood, and the depth of the vein is about twenty
feet. It breeds deer and other game, and its rivers abound in trout and
cray-fiHi, its ponds in pike, carp and other kinds.
§. 3. This lordfliip commenced, in the year 878, together with the
abbey of Gemunden. Of the lords of Wefierbiirg an account has been
given
above.
§. 4. The lordfliip contains
