5. The bailiwick of Forchheim, in which is
Forchhcim, or Vorchcim, a fortified little town, feated on the river IFifent,
which at this place falls into the Rednitz. In the town is a foundation,
and a Vrancijcan cloyfter. Whether Pontius Pilate was born here, or at
Forchhcim in the Speyergciu, now called Fors, or rather at neither, are queftions
of lefs importance than at which of thefe two places the King's manor
of Fcrcbheim'is to be fought for, namely, where, in the ninth and tenth centuries,
feveral Diets of the Empire were held, and royal afts difpatched ?
CharlemagJie removed fome Slavi thither. King Henry II. made a donation of
this town, in the year 1006, to the new ereded bifhopric of Bamberg.
In 1552 it was taken by the troops of the Marggrave Albrecht of Bran"
denburg, and in J 63 2 by the Swedes,

Marlojßein, a citadel, conferred by Count Godjrey of Hohenkhe, named
Bnmeck, in the year 1340, on the bifliopric.
7. The prefedurate of ScHELMBERG, or Neunkirchen, in which is
Neunkirchen, a market-town.

and many other places.
8. The adminiftration of Neunkirchen, in the afore-mentioned markettown,
took its rife from the Augußine cloyfter which formerly flood there.
g. The prefedlurate of Neudeck, or Ebermanstadt, in which is
Ebermanßadt, a. fmall town, feated on the river Wilcnt, and which partly
in 1347, on the deceafe of the Counts of SchluJJelberg, and partly by exchange,
from the bifliopric of Wurzbwg, devolved to Bamberg.
Neudeck, a mountain-caftle, and a ftem-houfe of the Lords of Neudeck,
was conferred, in the year 1150, by the Counts Pcppo and Bertbold of
Henneberg, on the bidiopric» and by the laft on the Counts o( Scbluffelberg-j
but after their extindion reverted again, in 1347,
to it.
10. The prefedurate of Wolfsberg, in which is
Wolfsberg, a citadel, conferred by King Henry II. in the year 1006, on
the bifliopric.
11. The prefedurate of Warberg, in which is
Warberg, a citadel.
12. The prefedurate of Gosz Weinstein, in which is
Gofzweitijlein, vulgarly called Gofzmanßein, a citadel, feated between high
mountains and rocks, and obtained by the bifliopric in 1 160, of King Frrderick.
At this place ftands a Capuchin cloyft:er for the pilgrimage of the
holy
Trinity.
