Letoi or Lein, a fmall town feated on tlie Lahii, but very ancient^ beiii-T
known fo early as the year 912, and in 1664 it obtained its cliarter as a
town. In the year 1752, one half of it was deftroyed by fire, but it has
been fince handfomely rebuilt. This place contains an ennobling eftate,
Aitcnburg, or Altenher g, a Prctmonßratenfuin monaftery, inllituted for
ladies, ftands on a hill near the river hahn., and was formerly the relidence
of the counts of Solms, during which it was called .D^z/z^t-/;;;. Near it ftood
a village of the fame name. Not far from this convent is annually held the
highell court of the county of Sohns, and according to ancient cuftom, in
the open air, unlefs in rainy weather, when the convent is the place for it.
The villages of Upper and Lov:er-Biel, the former of which is a churchvillage.

Burg-Solms, a church-village, in which once flood the original houfe of
counts of Solms.
Upper-Dorf, formerly Upper-Solms, but more anciently Su/mi/heim, a
village annexed to the former parilh, once made a great deal of wine.
The church-villages of Bonbaden and Croftelhach, together v/ith an old
fort ; and Upper-JVetz, in the neighbourhood of which are fome appearances
of a filver ore, as alfo Naubern ; but of this, as likewife of the village
of Lower-Wetz, a part belongs to Najfaii-Weilbiirg.
Schwalbach-, or Little-Schwalbacb., a village containing a medicinal fpring.
Mimchholzhanfen,
a village mortgaged to the barons of Schwalbach.
Schivobbach, Homburg and Magdalcnenhaufen, or Meinhaufen, farms belonging
to the lord of the country.
2. The prefedurate of Greifenstein, in which is one town, twentytwo
villages, and two manfion-houfes belonging to farms, mz.-
Greifenßein, a little town containing a cafUe, which was once very flrong,
but now lies in ruins.
Edingen, a village with a farm, belonging to the lord of the country.
Katzenjurt, a village feated on the Dill, and faid to take its name from
the Catti.
Dabbaufen,
a large village containing a pariüi-church, had formerly fome
copper-works, and thrives at prefent by means of a colony of induftrious
French refugees.
Greijenthal,
a village containing alfo ^French congregation.
The church villages of Dilheim, Koljcbhaufen ivehrdorj, in which is a feat
belonging to the lord of the country ; Ajfelar, Vim Biskirchen, or Bifchofskirchen.
Heifterberg and Elgerß:aufen, farms belonging to the fovereign of the
country.
