and rights with the Bohemian town o^ Ellnbogen ; among which this
is chiefly to be remarked, that it pays no exaäions to its Sovereigns, but
prefents them only, when they vifit it in perfon, once a year, in a new
wooden bowl, with five pound weight of hellers. This immunity Schoneck
enjoys to this day, and it was confirmed to it as well by the Bohemian King
Wenzel, as alfo in 1424 by the Landgrave and Marggrave William, and by
all the fucceeding Eleftors o^ Snxojiy. But when in 1708 they moil; humbly
prefcnted to their Sovereign and King, as he pafled through their town for
the firft time, a new v/ooden bowl with hellers ; there were found among,
the latter 6063 pieces, which in value were hardly reckoned equal to tea.
rixdoUars. In 1680 this town was all burnt down excepting a few houfes.
6. Schadenbeck and Kojfel, two villages united into one parifli with Adorf,,
and having town-privileges.
7. Klingenthal, a parochial-village and mine-place, the inhabitants of
which are defcended from the Proteftant Bohemians, who fettled there.
They are for the moft part fiddle-makers and miners.
8. Schonberg, Droda, Pojfeck, and Bobenneukirchen, all parochial-villages
and noble eftates, belonging to the family of Reitzenßein. In the firft of
thefe places is a good medicinal fpring.
9. Bofenbrunn and 'Triebelf two parochial villages, belonging to the family,
of Brandenßein.
10. Werda and Tirperjdorf, two parochial-villages, having noble eftates.
Rem. The miniftcrs of Zobern, Krebes, Mifzlareuth, Wiedenberg, Sachfgrun,
and Eichigt, as alfo of Gefell in the prefedturate of Plauen, are, on
accoup.t of the difpute between the electoral houfe o{ Saxony and the princely
houfe of Brandenburg-Culmbach, ftiled the difputed minifters. The Marggrave
of Brandenburg-Culmbach, aftually exercifes the right of patronage
over them.
11. The prefedurate of Plauen, containing in it thirteen immediate,
feventy-eight mediate vallals, and one hundred and ninety-one villages.
In it is
I. Blauen, the head town of this circle, and likewife of the eledoral'
Saxon ihare in the Vogtland, and belonging to the wider feledion of towns.
It lies on the river Elßer, and contains an old citadel, which is called
Ratfehauer, together with one parifh-church, and another for interments,,
as alfo a Latin fchool, and a fuperintendency, whofe fpiritual jurifdldion.
is divided into the Theuma and Taltitz circles, and contains in it ten towns,,
twency-feven mother-churches in the country, and twelve filials. Here
The Teiitonick order had formerly a commendary at this place.
Rem. About a quarter of an hour's diftance from this town ftood an^
ciently the citadel of Dobcnau, which now lies quite wafte^ though there
are alfo manufadures of cotton and cloth, and likewife another for cottonprinting.
