l^he Seigniory of
'TP HE feigniory oi Weh.heim lies in Swabia, in the dutchy of Wtirtemberg
and on the river Lcin, in the neighbourhood of the town oi Schcrndorj
and the cloyfter of horch. Formerly the Lords, but afterwards the
Counts, of Limburg held this feigniory in fief of the Dukes of Wurtcvibcrg j
whence, on the extindtion of the former, in the year 1713, it reverted to
the latter. Duke Eberhard Lcinis made a donation of it, in 171 8, to the
Countefs Chrißina Wilhelmina of Würben; which donation fhe again made
over, in 1726, to the houfe of Wurtemberg in fief; but at the fame time it
was flipulated, that her brother, Count William Frederick of GravenitZy
fhould pofl'efs it in common with her. To this lafl: the circle of ¥ranco7iia
granted, in the year 1727, both feat and voice on the bench of Counts.
She likewife paid a matricular-evaluation of five florins, and was poflefTed
alfo, at the Diet of the Empire, both of feat and voice in the Franconian
college of Counts ; but Duke Charles Alexander of Wurtemberg again fupprefled
this feigniory ; and it belongs at prefent to the princely eilates of the
chamber of accounts. The voice, on account thereof, in the circle oi Franco^
nia, is alfo fuppreffed ; and for this reafon it pays no taxation to the circle.
Of Welzheim, or, as it is called in the land-charts, Weizen, is a market-town.

'T^ H E feigniory of Kaufen, or Hauten, lies within the limits of the

feigniory oi Limburg, and confifts of the village ofthat name. It is
a male-fief of the Eledtor of Bavaria, which reverted after the extinction
of the Counts of Limburg, and upon that was given in fief, firft to the
Baron of Dankelmann, but afterwards to the Baron of Bredow. In the
agreement made between Brandcnburg-Onolzbach and the Limburg allodial
heirs in the year 1746, I find t\n% Haufen adduced as an Imperial male fubvafiallage
dependent on the Elector of Bavaria as a noble male fief, which
was acquired anew by the princely houfe of Brandenburg-Onolzbach, and
