a convent, and nine villages. Its moft remarkable places are,
Hungen, a fmall town feated on the Horlof, the charter of which was
conferred on it in the year 136 1. The count's palace here is large and built
in a gpod tafte. It contains alfo an old palace, at prefent called the Brauhof,
and a manfion-houfe conferring the degree of Nobility. Without the town
is a park for deer.
Langsdorf, a large village having a parifli-church, and an ennobling
manüon-houfe.
The church-villages of Bellerflmm, in which are three ennobling caftles
Mulchetiheim, alfo containing an ennobling caftle, and Villingen.
Armbicrg or Arenspurg, a rich abbey of Beriiardines, feated on the Wetter,
and originally the refidence of the lords of Miinzenberg, during which it
was ci^i^A Ahenburg, but in the year ii49> Cum, Lord of Mufizefiberg,
conferred it on the church as a convent. Its annual revenues are faid to
amount to no lefs than 30,000 florins ; to it belongs the village of JVickßatt,
together with the farms of Kohihaujen and Dorfgull. It has alfo
eftates at Franckfort, Friedberg and Mefitz. In ecclefiaftical affairs it is fub-
]t&. to the archbilhopric of Mefitz.
2. The prefefturate of Wolfersheim, containing
Wolfeßjeim, a fmall town : the old caftle here has been converted info a
large ftately church.

a village containing a chapel of eafe.
Obernhojen, a church-village, containing an ennobling manfion-houfe.
3. The prefedurate of Gambach, in which is
Gambach, a country-town containing a parifli-church, and which fuffered
by fire in the years 1703, 1715, and 1717.
Griedel, a church-village, containing an old caftle belonging to the fovereign
of the country, as alfo an ennobling eftate.
The church-villages of Holxheim and Dorfgull.
Gnmingen, a fmall town, which, a few houfes excepted, was deftroyed
in ihe thirty years war.
4. The community of Munze7iberg.
Of the fmall town of Munzenberg, Sobii-Braunfeh poftefles i^ parts, and
one half of the village of Treyjz-Munzenberg.
The houfe of Soems-Hoen-Solms. Belonging to it is
I. A part of the proper county of iSii/w-f, confifting of the prefedurate of
HoEN-SoLMs, and containing one town and nine villages. The vaffals here
are all Lutherans, the inhabitants of the refidence excepted, who are Proteftants.
By an agreement made in the year 1638, the houfe of Hejfe-
Darmßadt has retained a fhare of the ecclefiaftical jurifdiöion of this prefefturate.
