ORl'ENBURG,
of
§. I. np HIS little county lies in the Lower-Ba-jaria, being furrounded
by the pfleg-amts of Vilßooven and Griesbacb, belonging to the
rent-amt oi Landßmt, and alfo by the feigniory of A^t-ö^/zr^g-,
laid
§. 2. Its Lord and inhabitants are addided to the Proteftant religion as
down by Luther.
§. 3. The Counts of Orteiihurg (otherwife called Ortcnba-g, or Artenherg)
are defcended from Count Rapot I. who was fon to Rngelbrecht III.
Duke in Carintkia^ and born Count of Sponheim and Ortcnbiirg in tliat
dutchy. Thefe Counts have an old difpute flill depending at the chamber
judicatory with the Eledlor of Barjaria on account of their Imperial immediacy
j Bavaria contefting this point, and wanting to make them fubjccl to
him, as they adlually are with refpeft to the feigniory oi Mattigkcjen, in
the Tcnt-zxnt of Burghaufen. In the year 1574 Duke A/brecht of Bavaria,
however, caufed the expedancy to the Imperial fief of thefe Counts to be
conferred on him by the Emp^vor Maxi/mJian 11.
§. 4. The title of thefe Counts is : Of the Holy Roman Empire Count, defcended
of the ancient family of Ortenburg, Krichingen and Putlingen.
Thdr arms are a pale argent, in a fvcXA gules. At the Diet of the Empire
they belong to the Wctterau college of Counts thereof, and in the
circle of Bavaria fit on the fecular bench betwixt Haag and Rhrenfeh^
Their Imperial matricular evaluation is two horfe, or twenty-four florins
and to each chamber-term^ they pay fixteen rixdollars, twenty-three kruitzers.
The yearly revenues of thefe Counts amounts to about 13,000
florins.
§. 5, This county contains in it
1. Old-Ortenbiirg, a citadel and market-town.
2. Neiu-Ortenburg, a citadel.
3. The villages of Scldennu and Steinkirchen.
