To it belong the hamlets of Hefzlach and GableJiberg, the inhabitants
of which are burghers oi Stuttgardt, and their proceffes are tried in its courts.
The diftrid: of Stuttgardt under the Steige produces great quantities of
wine, and on the horfe courfe, betwixt Stuttgardt and Cantßadt, is a medicinal
bath called Hirfchbad. To this diftrid belong twenty pariflies, viz.
Wahenbiich, a little town, containing a callle, in which the duke ufually
refides when he hunts at Schonbuch. This place, together with fome other
villages and hamlets, was, in the year 1363, fold by duke Reimld of Urßlngen
to count Eberhard of Wurtemberg.
Bernhaufen, Bohilanden, Bothnang, Deger/ocb, where the Krautreich
ßlder or white college fields begin, Echterdingen, Feuerbach , Gaifzburg, Heutnaden,
Kemnath, Mujhcrg, Nellingen, formerly containing a priory j Upper-

Plattejihard and Plieningen.
Plochingen, Ruith, Schcrnhaufen, Siclmengen and Steinenbronn.
2. The town and diftriä: of Cantßadt.
Cantßadt, or Cantflatt, a fmall town, lying on the eaft fide of the
'Neckar, and containing a fuburb on the other fide of it, by reafon of its
fituation is accounted a pafs. In it is a fpecial-fuperintendency, and a
cotton printing-houfe ; and both within and near the town are three fait
fprings of approved virtue in feveral diforders. Near the town the counts
of Wurtemberg anciently held their tribunals in the open air, and nigh it
alfo flood the caftles of Brys, Altenburg, and Berg. In the neighbourhood
lies the little village of Berg, in which is a filk manufadory, and
near it an excellent mineral fpring. On a hill lying about 1000 paces to
the eafl: of the town 1
700 bones of great and fmall animals have been
dug up, and the walls of an ancient Roman building difcovered.
The diftrid oi Cant(ladt contains thirteen pariflies; namely,
Fellbach, Hedelfingen, Höfen, a Roman-cz.i\\oY\c pariHi, Munfier, Upper-
Turkbeim, Rohracker, Rommel/haufen, Schmiden, JJlbach, Under-Turkheim^
JVangen, Weil in Dorf, and Zufenhaufen. Betwixt the parochial villages of
Fellbach and Under-Turkbeim, near the hamlet of Rotheberg, is the family
feat of
Wurtemberg, which was the reudence of the counts of Wurtemberg till
the year 1320, and flands on an eminence. This feat has been frequently
laid
in ruins.
Obf. Fellbach, Ulbach, and Under-Turkeim, are noted for their wine.
3. The town and diflridt of Waiblingen.
Waiblingen, a little town lying on the Rems, has belonged to the counts
oi Wurtemberg ever fince the year 1253. During the thirty years war the
greateft part of this place was deflroyed. In it is a fpecial-fuperintendency.
The bailiwick of Waiblingen produces, in mofl places, good wine and
corn : to it belong eight parifhes, namely, Beinftein, Bittenfeld, Hegnach,
Hohnacker, Korb, Neckar-Groningen, Neckar-Rems, and Neufiadtlein ; and
alfo in old records New-Waiblingen, which is walled.
