I'he County of
|. I. npHE county of Jiaag terminates to the eafl on the river 7w/,
' being environed by the Upper-Bavarian pfleg-amts of WaJTerburg
and Schwaben, as alfo by the Loiuer-Bavarian pfleg-amts of Neumarkt,
Dorfen, and Aerdi?7g, and the feigniory of Burkrain in the bifl:iopric of
Freyfingen. From eafl: to weft it is near three German miles in length, and
from fouth to north above two.
§. 2. The firft pofleflbrs of this county were the Lords oi Gurren, from
whom it defcended in the firfl half of the thirteenth century by inheritance
to Seyfrid oi Frauenberg. In the year 1509 the Emperor Maximilian I.
raifed Sigifmund of Frauenberg and his fons to the dignity of Counts of the
Empire. The Emperor Charles V. conferred on the houfe of Bavaria the
expectancy of the Imperial fiefs of the Counts of Haag, which donation
was confirmed by the Emperor Ferdinajid I. But the lafl: of the Counts
of Haag, T\a.n-\cd Ladi/laus, dying in 1567, £^i;^z/-/rt took pofl'eflion of the
county, putting off the allodial heirs with money.
§. 3. The Eledor of Bavaria bears this county neither in his title nor
arms : But the arms for it are a reined fteed courant, in a field verte. On
account of this county the Eledor enjoys both feat and voice in the circle
of Bavaria on the fecular bench betwixt Stenißein^ind Ortenburg, and with
the latter maintains a dilpute about rank, but neverthelefs is in pofi"effion of
the precedency. He permits, indeed his envoys at the Diet of the Empire
to legitimate themfelves on account of this county by the diredory of the
Empire, but holds to no college of Counts thereof. The county of
Haag pays to one Roman month four iiorfe and ten foot, or eighty-eight
florins ; and to each chamber-term is rated at eighty-one rixdollars, fourteeü
kruitzers and a
half.
§. 4. It is reckoned a pfleg-amt belonging to the rent-amt of Munich,
having an eledloral adminiflrator, a provincial judge, a treafurer, and ä
fief-provofl of its own, as alio other officers, and contains in it
