1754 transferred it to Prince William^ eldefl foil to the hereditary Prince
Frederick; but referved to himfelf, during his hfe, the enjoyment and exercife
of the fovereignty, and made an order that on his dcceafe the faid
Prince, or the elded and firfl begotten of his offspring fliould take upon him
the fovereignty of this county, and that on his acceffion to that of Heßc-CciJJely
the faid county fliould again be inalienably annexed to that principality under
one fovereign.
§. 6. The ruling count of Hanau-Mimzenberg is a member of the college
of the Imperial counts of the Wetferau ; but the Landgrave William VI.
feparated himfelf from them, and, in 1741^ alfo from the circle of the
Vpper-Rkitie . In the Imperial matricula this county is afleffed at two hundred
and to the chamber at Wetzlar pays one hundred and fixty
and thirty florins,
rixdoUars, twenty-nine and one quarter kruitzers.
§. 7. The income arifing to 'John Rei?2ard, the laft count of Hanau^ from
his feveral territories, is faid to have amounted to above 500,000 florins,
§. 8, This county confifts of the foilowing towns and prefedurates
I. Hanau, the capital of the county, lies in a large plain on the river
Kinzigt which near this place runs into the Mayne. It is compofed of the
old and new town, both of which are fortified. The old town, which from
