If we look on the above table, it is clear that first five chapters of General Mathematics
are different form integrated Mathematics. The concepts of Percentage, Ratio, Proportion,
Zakat, Ushr and Inheritance are taught in grades 6, 7 and 8. Business Mathematics,
Financial Mathematics and Consumer Mathematics are introduced first time at secondary
level National curriculum of general mathematics (2007), which is not implemented, yet.
All the above chapters of National curriculum of general mathematics (2007) are taught
in business Mathematics with some advanced forms.
3. Objectives of the Study
It is a fact that concepts learnt at school level affects the future education. School
education provides base line for future learning. School curriculum is designed by
keeping in view the needs of future education and with the aim to prepare students who
can play active role in society as well as on international level. The objectives of the
present study were to find out:
� The opinion of the students about secondary Mathematics and Business
Mathematics.
� Problems of the students in Secondary School Mathematics
4. Population and Sample
The population for the study was the students of MBA and M.Com from Islamia
University Bahawal Pur, Peshawar University and Allama Iqbal Open University. A total
of 150 students were randomly selected as sample for the study.
5. Methodology
The study was descriptive in nature. Opinions tell about the reality and provide paths to
right direction. Opinion also highlights the advantages and disadvantages of the product.
A questionnaire was developed on five point Likert scale (Strongly Agree= SA,
Agree=A, Uncertain=UNC, Disagree= DA and Strongly Disagree= SDA) to know the
opinion of students about secondary Mathematics and Business Mathematics. Before
developing the questionnaire, a discussion was made with the students of Business
Education. During discussion, they highlighted the problems they faced while solving
