Motivation can be defined as the process of activating, maintaining and directing behaviour toward a particular goal. The main objectives of the study were (a) to identify the motivational factors in selecting teaching professional as career choice of teachers (b) To identify the importance of selecting teaching profession. The population of the study was considered all the secondary school of district Rawalpindi Random sampling technique was used for the selection of the sample. In this way 30 secondary schools of District Rawalpindi were selected as a sample of the study. Questionnaires were used as research instruments for collection of data. The data were collected through the questionnaires about various aspect of the study are presented in percentages in tabular form and applied Chi-square test for identify the testing of significance value. Conclusions were made at the end of the research. On the basis of analysis it was concluded that the opinions of majority teachers to adopt teaching as profession career first due to interest in attractive job, prestige profession, reward, incentive, expressing expectations, achievement, advancement, recognition, status, performance opportunity and good conducive working environment, Keywords: Motivational Factors, Profession, Job, Reward, Incentives, Recognition, 1. Introduction Motivation is the desire or drive within a person to achieve some goal, within is the operative word here, for motivation is an internal condition based on a person‘s values, perceptions, and needs (Rick et al; 1995). The term motivation derives from the Latin movers, ―to move‖. It is virtually impossible to determine a person‘s motivation until that person behaves of literally moves (Mifflin, 1995). Humans are motivated by many things--psychological needs, physiological drives, survival, urges, emotions, hurts, impulses, fears, threats, rewards (money, friendship, status), possessions, wishes, intentions, values, mastery, freedom, intrinsic satisfaction, self-satisfaction, interests, pleasure, dislikes, established habits, goals, ambitions and so on.
