8. Findings and Conclusion
In Business Mathematics, students almost learn the same topics, they have learnt in
secondary school mathematics. At secondary level, humanities‘ students remain unable to
understand the logics behind the questions, especially in case of algebra and geometry.
Students easily understand the questions related to numbers but algebra and practical
geometry confer them tough time. It is needed that teachers should teach mathematics by
relating algebraic concepts with the daily life situations. Mathematics is taught with the
aim to enhance logical thinking but it does not produce required results due to teaching
methodologies. Secondary level teachers emphasizes on solving question with the aim to
obtain maximum marks because marks are the criteria for admission to next classes. It is
found that Theorems and practical geometry are unnecessary for the Humanities‘
students. In New curriculum of General Mathematics (which is not implemented yet ),
some chapters are added related to pure business education, however, other topics such as
matrices, derivatives, algebraic manipulation etc, may be highlighted through business
related examples.
