In addition to the measures set forth in article 8 of this Convention,each State Party shall, to the extent appropriate and consistent with its legal system,adopt legislative, administrative or other effective measures to promoteintegrity and to prevent, detect and punish the corruption of public officials.2. Each State Party shall take measures to ensure effective action by itsauthorities in the prevention, detection and punishment of the corruption of publicofficials, including providing such authorities with adequate independence todeter the exertion of inappropriate influence on their actions.
