At its tenth session (17-28 July 2000), the Ad Hoc Committee considered, finalizedand approved article 19, as amended. It was decided that no reference to the designation<strong>of</strong> a central authority or authorities should be made in subparagraph 1 (a). Theaddition <strong>of</strong> the phrase “or the location <strong>of</strong> other persons concerned” in final subparagraph1 (b) (i) was proposed by China. Paragraph 2 (c) was deleted as a result <strong>of</strong> thedecision <strong>of</strong> the Ad Hoc Committee to include in the draft convention a separate article onjoint investigations (see also note 2 by the Secretariat concerning article 19 <strong>of</strong> the convention).The last amendments are reflected in the final text <strong>of</strong> the convention, as included inthe report <strong>of</strong> the Ad Hoc Committee (A/55/383, sect. IV, draft resolution, annex I), thatwas submitted to the General Assembly for adoption pursuant to resolution 54/126 <strong>of</strong>17 December 1999.B. Approved text adopted by the General Assembly(see resolution 55/25, annex I)Article 27<strong>La</strong>w enforcement cooperation1. States Parties shall cooperate closely with one another, consistent withtheir respective domestic legal and administrative systems, to enhance the effectiveness<strong>of</strong> law enforcement action to combat the <strong>of</strong>fences covered by <strong>this</strong>Convention. Each State Party shall, in particular, adopt effective measures:(a) To enhance and, where necessary, to establish channels <strong>of</strong> communicationbetween their competent authorities, agencies and services in order to facilitatethe secure and rapid exchange <strong>of</strong> information concerning all aspects <strong>of</strong> the<strong>of</strong>fences covered by <strong>this</strong> Convention, including, if the States Parties concerneddeem it appropriate, links with other criminal activities;(b) To cooperate with other States Parties in conducting inquiries withrespect to <strong>of</strong>fences covered by <strong>this</strong> Convention concerning:(i) The identity, whereabouts and activities <strong>of</strong> persons suspected <strong>of</strong>involvement in such <strong>of</strong>fences or the location <strong>of</strong> other persons concerned;(ii) The movement <strong>of</strong> proceeds <strong>of</strong> crime or property derived from thecommission <strong>of</strong> such <strong>of</strong>fences;(iii) The movement <strong>of</strong> property, equipment or other instrumentalities usedor intended for use in the commission <strong>of</strong> such <strong>of</strong>fences;(c) To provide, when appropriate, necessary items or quantities <strong>of</strong> substancesfor analytical or investigative purposes;(d) To facilitate effective coordination between their competent authorities,agencies and services and to promote the exchange <strong>of</strong> personnel and other
