Interpretative noteThe interpretative note on article 1 of the protocol approved by the Ad HocCommittee and contained in its report on the work of its first to eleventh sessions(see A/55/383/Add.1, para. 62) is as follows:Paragraph 2This paragraph was adopted on the understanding that the words “mutatismutandis” meant “with such modifications as circumstances require” or “with thenecessary modifications”. Provisions of the United Nations convention againsttransnational organized crime that are applied to the protocol under this articlewould consequently be modified or interpreted so as to have the same essentialmeaning or effect in the protocol as in the convention.
