This Convention shall be open to all States for signature from [...] to [...]and thereafter at United Nations Headquarters in New York until [...].“2. The present Convention is subject to ratification, acceptance or approval.Instruments <strong>of</strong> ratification, acceptance or approval shall be deposited with theSecretary-General <strong>of</strong> the United Nations.“3. This Convention is open to accession by any State. The instruments <strong>of</strong>accession shall be deposited with the Secretary-General <strong>of</strong> the United Nations. 5“Option 1“[4. No reservations may be made in respect <strong>of</strong> any provision <strong>of</strong> <strong>this</strong>Convention.]“Option 2“[4. Reservations shall be subject to the provisions <strong>of</strong> the Vienna Conventionon the <strong>La</strong>w <strong>of</strong> Treaties <strong>of</strong> 1969.] 6“[5. Such notification shall take effect on the date on which it is received by theSecretary-General.]”4This article was revised at the informal consultations held during the ninth session <strong>of</strong> the Ad Hoc Committee andwas recommended by the Chairpersons <strong>of</strong> the informal consultations to the Ad Hoc Committee for consideration at its tenthsession.5The observer for the European Commission indicated his intention to submit to the Ad Hoc Committee at its tenthsession a proposal for an accession clause that would allow the European Community to accede to the convention and itsprotocols.6At the informal consultations held during the ninth session <strong>of</strong> the Ad Hoc Committee, it was agreed that a final decisionon whether reservations would be permitted would be reached once the contents <strong>of</strong> the other provisions <strong>of</strong> the conventionhad been finalized.
