At its eleventh session, the Ad Hoc Committee considered, finalized and approvedarticle 19, as amended. The last amendments are reflected in the final text of the protocol,as included in the report of the Ad Hoc Committee (A/55/383, sect. IV, draft resolution,annex III), that was submitted to the General Assembly for adoption pursuant toresolution 54/126 of 17 December 1999.B. Approved text adopted by the General Assembly(see resolution 55/25, annex III)Article 22Entry into force1. This Protocol shall enter into force on the ninetieth day after the dateof deposit of the fortieth instrument of ratification, acceptance, approval or accession,except that it shall not enter into force before the entry into force of theConvention. For the purpose of this paragraph, any instrument deposited by aregional economic integration organization shall not be counted as additional tothose deposited by member States of such organization.2. For each State or regional economic integration organization ratifying,accepting, approving or acceding to this Protocol after the deposit of the fortiethinstrument of such action, this Protocol shall enter into force on the thirtieth dayafter the date of deposit by such State or organization of the relevant instrumentor on the date this Protocol enters into force pursuant to paragraph 1 of this article,whichever is the later.
